Fantastic range and of craft beers and a huge range of local wines. Great to see locally produced drinks available. Husband had a paddle of local beers so got to sample eight!

we were away for the weekend and on route decided to stop for lunch in Woodend after one of our friends was really wanting a good ole pub meal .... so why not try this place?

we went on a busy Sunday a few weeks ago when the weather was perfect and sunny, hence it was quite busy full of like minded people

the restaurant inside was very busy and we could not get a table for us 4 adults and 2 toddlers, so we sat outside which was nice and relaxed, especially for the kids too.

the meals we ordered were lovely, which included pork snags with mash potatoe and onion gravy, fish and chips, and enison, duck and bacon burger with tomato, rocket,onion marmalade, cranberry mayo & chips

in fairness the bar menu prices were reasonable about $22 per main, although i must admit the portions were not that generous ... as can be found at other pub bistros ... but in all fairness to Holgate, the food was delicious, fresh and gourmet

the bar inside was very busy and if you like beers, make sure you get someone else to try so you can sample the various beers on tap ... i tried one beer (sorry cannot remember the same, as hubby chose it for me) and it was pretty good

This place is in desperate need of a renovation. Whilst the beer might be good, the food and service left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately first impressions stick. I wouldn't recommend this place and unless there was a change, I wouldn't go back.

A great trip out of town and the perfect place for a relaxed lunch. Meals are nice - especially dessert and there is a huge range of beer available. For those who are unsure what drink to have or simply cant pick just one, there is a sampler option, where you can enjoy 8 varieties of beer, all brewed on site.
