Hellenic Republic was unbelievably delicious. I've never had Greek food before but I was very impressed with the food I consumed at the restaurant. Service was superb and will be definitely booking myself for dinner at Hellenic soon.

We went there for Someone's Birthday and paid $40 per head.
We were more than satisfied with the taste of the food and the quality!
The service was very good and they were almost constantly bringing more food to our table. We did only have a three hour limit to turn the tables but that was a bit of a pain having to leave early but not too bad as it was plenty of time to eat.

One word for this place - Wow.

It's a new favorite of mine. After being dissapointed with it's sister restaurant, I didn't set any expectations

but..........

The service and food here here were faultless. We ordered the second smallest banquet on the menu which included dips, mezze, seafood and meat and then coffee, fruit and desserts (just like Athens) and we rolled out of the place - doggy bags in hand. (Which, as a side note I need to say it was sooooo refreshing to see you could doggy bag goods instead of seeing good food go to waste straight into the bin)

We thought it was a little $$$ for Taverna food but once we stared eating, the value for money ended up being outstanding.

Approximate cost: $60

This is the sister restaurant of The Press Club, but it is more of a traditional Greek food and more of a funky, casual experience. Most of the menu is designed to be shared by the table.
Our waitress was amazing, she was Greek heritage and knew what everything on the menu was and could describe in detail and also give suggestions of what we might enjoy.

We got for starters, marinated olives, tzakitki dip with wood fired bread, saganaki cheese with caramelized spiced figs, and some plain rye bread they give to every table at the start. This was plenty for a starter for two.
For main I had grilled prawns, in which you can choose how many you like as it is $3.50 per prawn. They had a wonderful lemon/Herb marinade on them. My husband had the special lamb spit which comes with fantastic wood fired potato chips - very very good!
Everything is cooked on the grill and all very fresh tasting. There is heaps to choose from and good choices for vegetarians.
For dessert we shared a plate of the Greek donuts with honey, pistachios and cinnamon - definitely recommend! And one plate was enough for two.Yum. Also had a few glasses of wine and it came to about $60 each. We were so full at the end and were rolling out of there very happy.
