Went to the Maud street salon, hate getting my hair cut as it is crazy curly (frizzy) in summer. Got the best cut and an actual style. Thank you Halo

I brought a Groupon for hair and global colour, they were behind schedule so I came back a half an hour later 3.30pm instead of 3pm. I was first refused the global colour, and given some foils instead. I had a reference picture as to what my cut would be like. Cut up at the back, layered and longer on the front. Took about 2 minutes to give my hair a basic trim, blow dried and then acted like it was done as a basic bob cut. I said I asked for layers, long in the front cut up at the back and showed the pictures again. Sarah said she could “try to cut it dry” which seemed like she didn’t know she could use a spray bottle to wet down hair, this seemed like basic hairdressing knowledge. She started hacking quickly at my hair for another 2 minutes. The cut was an uneven bob, with a few long strands I had to cut off when I got home. She had also said she had been very “generous” by giving me foils... This was very rude and if you can dye PART of my hair in foils, you can do a FULL global colour. I’ve been a hair model for L'Oréal and Melbourne Hair Expo they have never had issues with lightening hair that had already been lightened. Basic hair dressing a colouring knowledge was very poor.

I complained to the owner Vicki and sent pics of the cut vs. reference pictures, she organized for me to come in again and see a different hairdresser, Holly, to fix the cut. This seemed promising so I didn’t want to leave a bad review just yet. I had a confirmation text message the day before confirming the date and time, I went out in the rain to the salon, no one was there 2 minutes to opening at 10am so I went to get a coffee, came back at 10.05 and 10.20 and the salon was still closed, messaged the Facebook page and tried calling. I got a call back from Vicki 5 minutes later saying Holly had “gone to Brisbane” and that Vicki would try reschedule again over the next few days. This was extremely rude, my whole morning was put out and I wasn’t given a call ahead of time to say the salon would be closed. Not interested in going back. Was looking for a regular salon after moving

I wanted the global colour as purchased. I wanted a style cut as purchased and not a wonky bob. If I can lighten my hair at home, why can’t they do it at a salon? Also was not given the “treatment” as specified on the groupon, was not “$250 worth”, was not even worth the $89 of the groupon. Do not recommend the salon. Would give zero stars if possible.

Recently I had an amazing experience at Halo. Sarah was great, friendly and did a beautiful job with my colour and cut. Will definitely return. Miracles do happen!!

Have just moved from Brisbane and was very concerned at leaving my old hairdresser but have found Halo and am overjoyed at the friendliness and service I have just received from Halo staff, Naomi and Jess. They were both wonderful and made my visit very enjoyable, so much cheaper than my Brisbane Hairdresser and better. Will be back again and again. Highly Recommended
