I guess for most europeans this place is not the normal. If you wish to compare french pastries to this place then this is not the right thing to do. Dense butter based european textures and flavours are not the thing in Asian sweet cuisine and I am of english decent so it was a bit disconcerting at first to taste these buns and light weight cakes and custards. I went here to get some light egg custard in a small plastic container for my aged ailing mum. The vanilla flavour was mild compared to what I thought was needed but the type of milk, I think a skim variety lent itself to catching some nutmeg and slightly sweet set custard that my mother processed well. Sweet hot buns with pork or bean are pleasant and I fancy you could morning tea on many of the items available here. It is all cooked with pride at the site and is not usually found with left overs the next day. If you adjust your expectations and move away from calorie dense european fare, then I think this is much above average and more than a pleasant experience to share a plate of something different with your workmates or friends. Clean new premises so it is inviting to go into this place and make your choices and go to the checkout and be pleasantly surprised at the bill
