This is a great place to have in a shopping complex - if only because it is somewhere I can send my husband when he gets bored of shopping but I still haven't run out of steam. More than once when he starts getting grumpy I have walked him to the bar, got him settled with a drink (and all the bags of shopping), left him there so I could shop in peace then gone back and enjoyed a beer while I drive him crazy with a blow by blow explanation of all the things I bought after I left him. From the sympathetic looks he gets from the male bar staff when they come clear away his glasses, I think we are far from original in doing this!
They do have nice pub style food too, if you are up for a meal, and decent specials on various things different nights of the week.

Have been going here on and off for about 4 years now. Have certainly noticed a management change since then. Staff has DEFINITELY changed from the past. We always get the booth tables up the top section, but there is a big area to sit outside. My husband always has the seafood selection and I always get their Lamb Shanks and mash and they are yum .. I know through word of mouth that Gillies gets taken over on the weekends by young adults as they have a DJ etc ..

Approximate cost: $18

There was a group of about 25 of us for a workmate's farewell. Very disappointed in a lot of things-
Garlic bread was ordered and never came, when it did it after saying something, it had no garlic on it. One person orederd a bottle of white wine and got red instead.
With the meals, everyone who had steak found it bad- for the $25 I paid, half of it was revolting, gloopy fat, the pepper sauce was very average, and people who had chips said they werent cooked properly, the girl next to me had a thai beef salad, and her beef was tough as boots.
We complained to the manager? not sure, and he gave us a boittle of wine, which ends up as no cost to them, really, as it gets written off as a promotion.

Then after a few hours they said we have to move as they were packing the tables down.

It says cheap and nasty to me-wont go back there.

Approximate cost: $25

I went here with a group of friends. Music had no base so it was very loud and screechy. My friend bought one drink with a $50 note and only got $10 change!! She spoke to the manager but they said they couldn't do anything till they closed. This then ruined her night as this was the only money she had. Other places will take out that till and count it right then and there or check cameras above the register. This manager just seemed like he didnt care.

We have been to Gilhooley's on several occasions and have been satisfied on all visits. The food is priced very reasonably priced and it tasted really nice too. There is a wide variety of choices for the meat eater but they could include a few more vegetarian options.

Approximate cost: $20.00

I will start with rude manager...that is bad when the manager is rude Especially when you haven't even been seated yet. They didn't have a booking we made 2 weeks prior for my friend's hen's night. She didn't even say sorry. She tried to put us in a corner when there was heaps of other tables free so when we asked to be seated outside as per the original booking she complained and stalked off. When one of the other girls made an apology to her about being a little rude because of the booking being mixed up the manager told us that this could not be fixed and we were not welcome and to 'get the f**k out'. I could not believe that she had sworn at us. We were all sober and calm and this woman had told us all to get out...please read our rating on Cactus Jack's who actually made room for us !!! This place is terrible and I will never go back there again. Do not ruin your night!!!

****UPDATE: I wrote a complaint letter to the owners of Gilhooley's and they got back to me within 2 days. The venue manager got back to me from Gilhooley's Loganholme and apologised and assured us that this was not the norm. The General Manager stepped in and also the Venue Manager of all of Gilhooley's and offered us vouchers to use at any Gilhooley's we chose. We went to the one in the City and it was fantastic though the music was very loud so not a family thing - I will still never go back to the Loganholme one because it was just terrible but the one in the city is pretty good***

Service is slow, you often have to wait for ages, even at the bar. Food is disgusting, have had a few good meals here but lots of disappointments. They charge a surcharge on public holidays and thsi is when food and servcie are worst
