I am not a huge fan of Thai food. So I was not expecting to be so very impressed by Easy Tiger. I really liked the tapas style dishes, which made for easy sharing, and the fact that the food was very modern and light in style and flavour. A really good value experience that delivered food and service to the same quality as some far more expensive city counterparts!

From the street, this restaurant resembles many of the dozens of others in the area, with perhaps the only clue being the exotic rattan tables and armchairs on the pavement where you can have a drink whilst waiting for your friends.

We had booked a large table at the back of the restaurant, which was quite enchanting with the dim interior lit only by fairy lights: 10 out of ten for the decor!

The staff that night were faultless! Friendly but unobtrusive. Our water glasses were replenished without us needing to ask - a big plus in my book!
Being a large party, we ordered the banquet and were not disappointed. The food is described as Asian fusion. Course after course of delicious dishes arrived at our table at regular intervals. Highlights for me were the coconut braised wagyu beef shin with pickled cucumber and the delicious caramelised coconut custard with poached pineapple & crispy black rice dessert. Truly a memorable meal.

On the down side, the corrugated iron roof in the rear section which has no air conditioning, would make for an unpleasant dining experience on a very hot night (fortunately the temperature had been a comfortable 25 degrees), and the wooden benches we sat on left my back feeling very tender for a couple of days. I highly recommend that they replace these for more comfortable seating. If you make a booking, make sure you ask for a table without the benches. And do bring strong glasses or a torch to read the menu as the lighting is very dim.

This place is not exactly cheap but you get what you pay for. My companions and I all agreed that we would return.

Approximate cost: $26-34
