We visited here for a special occasion, and despite booking in for dinner at 8:30pm on a Monday night, it was very busy so i would recommend booking!

The service was very quick, and the meals didn't take as long as I thought they might. All the meals were large in size, and none of our party of 4 quite managed to finish theirs! 2 of us got the sizzling seafood platter, which the waiters tie a bib onto you for which is practical and amusing. All 4 of us enjoyed our meals and couldn't fit in dessert!

Friendliness of staff & rate at which we received our food was fantastic. Food on the other hand was a little more on the average side. Quality of the seafood wasn't the best but it's not a fine dining place & does suit the atmosphere

Love the décor in the Drunken Admiral, its fun and quirky. The seafood was fresh and delicious and very filling. Everytime we have been the place is packed which has to be a good sign. The food comes out fast and the staff are very friendly. A good fun place to eat.

My wife and I dined here recently to celebrate our 6th anniversary. It had been recommended to me by a colleague who had raved about it.

We arrived at our designated booking time and found the place already quite full (which is impressive given they didn't actually open until our booking time).

The decor of the place is very nautical, bordering on excessive, but it actually lends itself to atmosphere quite well.

We were seated quickly and given a quick run down of the menu and specials. Our drink order arrived promptly and we ordered our food.

We shared an entree of Gunner's Smoky Squid Fry which was amazing. I could have happily chowed down on that for my main as well.

For the mains my wife ordered the Yachtie's Seafood Mixed Grill which was delivered to the table still cooking on a sizzle plate and the waitress actually puts a bib on you so you don't get splashed with anything whilst it finishes cooking.

It consisted of 3 skewers of fish, prawns and scallops and a HUGE serve of chips.

I went for the crumbed Tassie scallops from the specials board and was greeted with a huge plate of freshly caught scallops and another giant serving of chips.

We didn't get to try dessert as we were too full after the generous servings.

The food we had was fantastic, the service was excellent and, whilst it isn't the cheapest place around, it's worth every cent.

My tip would be to make sure you have a booking. We went on a Sunday night a few days after Valentine's day and we saw countless people turned away that hadn't booked.

We were blown away by the service, speed in which we got our food, and overall feel of this place.

I have to say, I was put off by the "themed" sort of menu at first having read it on line, I certainly wasn't expecting what was to be one of the best meals I have had, to date in Tasmania.

We ordered 2 Eye Fillet steaks, which mine was medium and my husbands medium rare, which were delivered to our table within 15 minutes of us ordering and cooked to absolute perfection.

The cut of meat was clearly good quality and the taste of the meal was sensational.

We finished off with a dessert that I am keen to try and recreate in my own kitchen. Triple Chocolate Fudge Slice.
It was so good, words cannot describe, however sadly for me and everyone else who goes there in search of this dessert, it was a special for the night...

We will be back here on our next Hobart holiday. Try the steak! You will not be sorry!
