10 reviews about Dartnells Compounding Pharmacy

I purchased some tonic and cream for my child's excema. We had tried everything from steriod creams to naturopathy. We started using the tonic and cream at the beginning of summer (the worst time for excema) but they worked wonders and we haven't had an issue since.

A friend recommended I try Dartnells when my dog was diagnosed with Cushings. I spoke with Les a number of times before going in, he is fantastic to deal with, incredibly kind and helpful. We ended up purchasing Trilostane for my dog at a price that was significantly cheaper than the vet was charging us. I would highly recommend anyone to this pharmacy, the staff are lovely, professional and empathetic and my dog hasn't been this happy in a long time. We won't go anywhere else

I was recommended to dartnell's pharmacy because I was looking for a very particular medication that I couldn't get through any of the normal pharmacies. When you walk into this place, the smell takes you back a hundred years. The pharmasist recommended a few doctors who could help and then once I had the relevant script, he was able to fulfill my order immediately. In Singapore I was paying $130 a month for this medication - so yes the prices in dartnell's are probably more than the value pharmacies but you don't go to this place for a pack of 24 asprin or to fill a basic prescription. Some of the review for dartnell's seem overly critical - I can only relate my own experience which was fantastic... I will be back in 90 days for a repeat...

I SMASHED A BOTTLE OF A SPECIAL WASH WHICH WAS FOR MY SICK FATHERS BACK WHICH WAS ULCERATED TO BATHE IT IN AND BEING A LONG WEEKEND, I HAD PROBLEMS FINDING A COMPOUNDING PHARMACY THAT WAS OPEN. ON TELEPHONING DARTNELL THEY SAID IT WOULD COST $50. I PHONED BACK AND SAID NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT AND HE DROPPED IT TO $30. HE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME BECAUSE I WAS DESPARATE BECAUSE I NEEDED IT. THE HOSPITAL COST WAS $5.60 THIS WAS ON A PENSION OF COURSE. IT MADE ME VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY WOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME LIKE THAT IN THIS DAY AN AGE. I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN AND DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I was recommended to go to this pharmacy for a specific compound vitamin as I needed a high dose daily. They were helpful and had it ready within a few days.

I bought some Acne Rosacea cream from them and loved it. When I purchased my second jar it had a very different consistancy. I then learned that the pharmacy had changed hands and since then the base of the cream had been changed. There was no indication on the jar that the cream was in anyway different from before and they refused to refund or exchange the cream for something else, so in the end I chucked $54 down the drain!

Approximate cost: $54

Excellent compounding Chemist - Only creams that helped with my child's excema.
I got good and friendly advice over the phone and the chemist remembered me each time I called. The cream was pricey but I was happy to pay for a product that worked.

They don't answer the phone and theres no answering machine either. I was tole that they do things the old fashioned way like chemists used to but they need to answer their calls or have an answering machine to stay in business!

Finally got thru, staff member not very friendly but helpful enough. Seeing that I don't live locally, they will post the product, which is a good service.

Pretty stock standard as far as products are concerned, prices are high in comparison however and the staff are not totally inviting, it was a generally bleak experience and was only a one off but i would not intend to go back

Dartnell's are unique in that the proprietor is also an Ayurvedic practitioner who will give over the counter advice. They stock a large range of products at high prices. Service can be slow and intimidating, not overly friendly. Advice can be good and they will ring around to confirm information if necessary. I found that their fertility specialist was unable to help me, but wouldn't say so to my face. If you go, make sure you allow time for the slow service.
