Cafe in the House is a funky little cafe tucked away in the Museum of Australian Democracy (Old Parliament House). It's perfect for a casual lunch or snack when visiting the Museum or nearby attractions in the Parliamentary Triangle.

The range of food available is what you would expect from this type of cafe, although the quality is higher than the usual. The cafe is licensed too, which is an added bonus.

Great desserts and the atmosphere is fantastic!!! It is a great place for Happy Hour on Friday afternoons and a great place to take visitors to have a nice snack in Canberra.

Approximate cost: $10

Service very slow, waiters unsure of where tables were, 30 minutes from seating until order taken. Had to get own cutlery and water/glasses from another empty table. When taking order, waitress stated that sandwiches are pre-made and unable to swap bread-type. Other items listed on menu not available (waitress seating us only indicated 1 item not available). 40 minute wait for meal. When finally got, meal was reasonable. Batter on fish overcooked, vegetarian panini bland, roast ok (though took a bit to determine meat-type). Coffees luke-warm. Would suggest heating plates and cups to keep meals warm.

Approximate cost: $19
