2 reviews about Burrum Heads Hillcrest Holiday Park

Not a very nice experience at all. We had to drive up to Burrum Heads as my Father In Law was rushed into hospital while on holiday so we needed accommodation for a few nights for my family and my Mother In Law. The only place that could accommodate us all was a deluxe ensuite which cost $90/night for 4 adults. Ow my goodness, what an absolute dump this Unit was. The amount of mould running up and down the walls was disgusting and since my daughter has asthma, mould and asthma don't mix. There wasn't just a few dots, it was thick and black and everywhere. Obviously had a few good months to fester. You could just smell the mould everywhere. There was also a smashed window in the bunk bed area (hence the source of the mould) so my husband and I taped up the window with a slab of wood we found near the entrance. The sheets were stained and the fridge was riddled with mould also. And to top it off, my Mother In Law went through the floor because a small rug was put on the floor to cover up the flooring that had collapsed under the Lino. As we arrived at night time, the office was closed and there wasn't any other accommodation as it was late. We battled through the night and when we went to the office to get our money back, wow talk about not interested. The lady didn't care one bit that my daughter battled asthma all night or that my mother in law went through the floor, she was more concerned that she had to return our monies. Reluctantly, she handed back our money and we drove down to Hervey Bay and booked into a 5 star 2 bedroom apartment ha that was to make up for the disgusting night we had the night before. Bad service and upkeep and definitely not worth $90/night.

This park was the cheapest around the area, at $36 per night for 2 adults and 2 kids. Most in the Hervey Bay area were over $50 a night. It wasn't too bad, the amenities had been done up recently so were quite good, and there was a good free bbq. There was no camp kitchen and no place to even wash the dishes which was a bit annoying. The TV/games room is not even worth them mentioning on the website as they were both really old, outdated and you wouldn't really want to hang out in them. The lawns hadn't been mowed for ages, which made tent living quite annoying. A bit run down and rough around the edges, but at least it was cheaper than the others! Would probably still stay there again if we visited the area, mainly due to the price, and the fact that the amenities were good and staff were friendly.

Approximate cost: $36
