Not recommended. 17/02/2015 Contracted Blockout Blinds to install 2 awnings. Quote/Contract guaranteed awnings would be installed on or before 30/03/2015. 19/03/2015 Received SMS stating blinds almost ready and rep would contact me by 02/04/2015 (no mention of guaranteed date of 30/03/2015). No contact by 02/04/2015 and blinds not installed by 30/03/2015. 07/04/2015 Rang company got answering machine left message – no response. 09/04/2015 Replied to SMS asking when awnings would be installed – no response. 10/04/2015 Rang Blockout Blinds arranged for installation on 15/04/2015. One bracket attached to wall crookedly, one guide rod substantially longer than the other, awnings won’t stay all the way down due to location of tie off cleat, rope (recommended by rep) recoils so strongly it’s impossible to hold onto, awnings fold and crease as they wind up. Contract states if guaranteed installation date is missed the Company will provide a $50 EFTPOS card so during conversation on 10 April I asked about card and was advised a card would be issued, 17 April advised it would be 2-3 weeks before I received card, 11 May advised person handling task had been on sick leave, 15 May advised card had been ordered. During call on 15 May I advised receptionist that if card didn't arrive by 22 May I would contact Consumer Affairs for legal advice. 22/05/2015 Rang Consumer Affairs and was advised to send written letter to Blockout Blinds asking for card to be sent within 5 business days. 23/05/2015 Wrote letter to the Manager and asked (a) for the card to be sent and (b) to receive a written response from the Manager regarding my complaint. 24/05/2015 Mailed letter. 26/05/2015 Received EFTPOS card accompanied by pro-forma letter, envelope postmarked 25/05/2015. 27/05/2015 Tried to activate card on Gift Card Planet website. Couldn’t activate. Rang Gift Card Planet same day and was advised the card has not been authorised for payment yet. Lodged formal on-line complaint with Consumer Affairs on same day. 01/06/2015 Received message from Gift Card Planet advising card had been authorized for payment and I would be able to use it after 12noon on 02/06/2015. 02/06/2015 Received call from Consumer Affairs Victoria asking if the card had been approved for payment and thanking me for providing the information. As at 02/06/2015 I am yet to receive a written response from the Manager to my letter of 23rd May.

We installed 2 blinds today. The whole process was great. The staff showed on time, and was polite. He installed everything perfectly. We are very happy with our new blinds.

They were not the cheapest but I felt comfortable with the sales people, they understood what we wanted. I needed to chase them to have our blinds installed but they came. The blinds look good - one needs fixing as it is rolling wrong - they said they will send someone out. Overall the service was good the sales person Luke was great and continues to support us. We look forward to enjoying our blinds.

I am not too sure how to really compare this company as they were the only ones to give me a quote. The other company I called did not turn up and I had no time to start calling around again to arrange more quotes.

I went with Blockout Blinds on the day as Elliott gave me a lot of confidence in his advice and the price for my blinds seemed very reasonable. Also they have a 10 year warranty.
The installation went well and they cleaned up after themselves which is a good change.
I would use them again.

Had awnings installed on the outside of our home around 12 months ago. They have a 5 way guarantee, which includes a lifetime installation warranty. Recently we had a problem with one blind coming adrift from its mount. They had someone attend the next day and fixed it promptly. They also checked all the other awnings and made some further adjustments to the fittings to strengthen the mountings. Their installation guarantee is a fair dinkum guarantee. Very happy with the service.

Long hold times on phone when you need to speak to someone about a repair. My holland blind was not very good quality compared to display at shopping centre.

Hi Naomi,
I just wanted to advise how happy we are with the blinds provided. Tim (the sales guy) and John who installed the blinds were both lovely and efficient. I'm also really thankful that the early deadline was met.

Cheap Quality Blinds with terrible customer service.
My Blinds were delivered & installed with nothing but problems.
Out of 6 blinds 5 had a problem, never again.

The first time we used this company we were thrilled! Second time round we are less impressed. They weren't installed all that well and because of the positioning it caused a lot of them to fray. They did fix the problem but bits and pieces here and there are still not fantastic! Disappointing!
