I'd rate Beckendales the best cafe in Croydon; they make awsome coffee, have generous servings and food is really yummy! The service is also always really friendly.

A cheery welcome, as if we are the most loyal and appreciated customers in the world, our coffee preferences always remembered (as everyone else's seem to be too!) and always fantastic food. The music is always excellent- interesting, often local/Australian grown, perfect volume, no radio talk back. Just the right level of friendliness and service and giving-you-space. It is the heart of community in Croydon and has lifted the atmosphere of the entire area. We love it - it is like an extension of home for many many people.

Having just moved to Croydon from the city, we were very disappointed to find nowhere open on a Sunday morning for breakfast! Or so we thought - to our delight Beckendales is a great place to go for good coffee with great food, a relaxed atmosphere and efficient friendly service. Love the turkish pides, yummy muffins and funky decor. A lovely spot to read the Sunday papers (and they provide plenty to go around) - very cool place in a nice quiet spot in Main Street - thank goodness for Beckendales!

This is a cafe I frequent because they have such good food. Their menu incoporates breakfast thru to lunch items. They have opened up a wine bar adjoining the cafe called Suburban. Their Turkish pides are a definite favourite. All staff are very friendly. Their menu is very well priced with the majority of dishes around the $10 mark. You cannot get a car park right out front, but there is a lot of car parking surrounding the cafe.

I have eaten there for breakfast and lunch many times. The food is innovative and really different. There are standard cafe items as well, but why be boring? I recommend the ricotta pancakes! The coffee is fantastic too.

Approximate cost: $12
