The staff & eye specialists at Ballarat eye clinic are always friendly & explain everything clearly & thoroughly. I’ve never had to wait longer than 5 minutes, when here to see a specialist , so very efficient.

Approximate cost: $1500

The manner of the surgeon, D. McKnight, is gentle, kind and respectful. When finally I got in to the first consultation I felt as though he regarded me as a person with an eye condition, not a disease with a body attached.
The treatment was entirely successful and a testimony to his experience and skill. When modern surgery works well it makes a miraculous change to one's life.
My first experience of the clinic began badly. Despite have an appointment, there was a very long queue, literally right out the door, and an inordinately long waiting time. However it transpired that the day before the surgeon had attended a funeral which led to the back log of appointments. This I could accept, and certainly when I finally got into consultation I felt no pressure of being rushed. I was annoyed though by the receptionist's offhand comment that next time I shouldn't have to wait more than an hour. This lack of respect for my time being important to me, that I do not want to waste it, really annoys me very much. A simple “sorry” would have been better. Another thing I did not like was feeling that I was on a conveyor belt. This was disheartening and I began to lose confidence in the surgeon before I met him. The nurse practitioner did make me feel like I was an eye, rather than a person to her, but maybe she was feeling the strain of processing so many people that day.
Follow up appointments were mixed events. One time I walked in the door at my appointed time and went straight in to the consultation, another time there was about a half hour wait.
If you require the services of an Ophthalmologist I believe you cannot find better than D. McKnight.

Great review here, one that has the potential to assist many. Unfortunately, your comment regarding feeling as though you were ‘on a conveyor belt’ is an accurate one and is what our medical establishment has become, a production line. It is disconcerting that many of the ‘professionals’ who are employed within this field become aloof or indeed disconnected to their patients needs and fears. Irrespective of this, it is encouraging to hear that you were treated well by the specialist in question and wish you the best for the future.
Regards,
Reeces
