I have been to this restaurant a number of times and the food has always been special and the service excellent. I usually go for the Friday lunch which is 3 courses for $45.00 - exceptional value for a fine dining Restaurant like this. The food is French in influence so they do sensational and especially lush desserts which almost always are served with the most surprising yet complementary ice cream. The menu changes every Friday and there are usually 2 or 3 dishes to select from for each course and there are vegetarian options which are also surprisingly delicious.

wow, what a beautiful dinner experience!! The decor is simple and unassuming, but boy oh boy does this restaurant know how to impress! The Degustation menu is always a great choice - a tad bit pricey, but well worth the quality of the food. The waiters are attentive, topping up water and wine religiously, but in a pleasant and non-intrusive way. They are also very knowledgeable of the food, explaining quickly the dish as they serve it to us. Nice atmosphere, nice mix of people - not always shirts and ties, but that's nice in a way, very fitting of Surry Hills - and a great evening is sure to be had at Assiette.

Enjoyed the degustation here and the food was excellent but felt it lacked some atmosphere. I did go on a weeknight and it was fairly quiet with some people in t-shirts and shorts at the next table so maybe my impression is a little skewed. Was cosy but not a really memorable place for me.

I cannot fault this place at all. I came here with my partner for the degustation and loved every bit of it. For the quality of food and service, the value is fantastic.

Was part of an industry dinner for about 16 a few months ago. What a treat and surprise to find such a fine restaurant in an unexpected location. Friendly, attentive staff made the evening an enjoyable experience - excellent wine and food on offer.
