A very busy pasta and pizza spot just off Rundle Street. It has stood the test of time and can be difficult to get in particularly for a large group. Very squashy and even a bit awkward at times. Plenty of atmosphere and very loud even to the point when I rang to make a booking he could hardly hear me over the phone. Pasta was good and came out quite quickly. My husbands pasta came out and was not cooked in the sauce that was ordered. He did acknowledge this and told us he thought it was better. We would have been able to send it back although he was doing his best to talk us into what had came out. He did stay with it and did enjoy it despite not what he had ordered. My meal was delish and the serving size was very large as it often is when you order pasta.

The food at Amalfi's is good enough that everyone at our birthday dinner was happy and pleased. But the space was a bit squashy and loud and not super romantic or atmospheric.
A really nice place to visit but not very formal or exciting.

I think some people love Amalfi's so much they'll overlook the down sides, but I didn't connect with this place especially.

I agree with you the food is great and although small I love the ambiance of the place. Most people go with the intention of a quick meal and out again and they do have a large turn over of tables for that reason. Not really a place for a birthday dinner where you want to sit, relax and chat with your company. In saying that we have been frequenting the place for years and will continue to do so but for the quick meals not the sit down and relax dinner.

I have almost nothing bad to say about this place. The atmosphere is vibey, particularly because it's always at maximum capacity. And that is because the food is so darn good. Nothing on the menu is below 5 stars. I have eaten there many, many times and will keep going back.

Approximate cost: $25

This restaurant does great pizzas and their other meals are very tasty. Unfortunately the cooking can be a little hit and miss. We had one birthday dinner when there were several meals that were only half cooked - including a chicken dish. The restaurant is a little awkward if you have to wait for a table or if your table is not ready when you get there. They offer you a drink at the bar, however the bar is actually a hallway in between the kitchen, bus boy and toilets. This experience could be better.
