Stayed here on business trip as the office is located on Collins Street. Short walk up Southern Cross Station, convenient location if heading to the Stadium and offices around the Docklands area, with trams along Collins Street that will take you right into the CBD and Chinatown. Room is decently sized and clean, as are the general areas of the hotel.

Approximate cost: $200

My family and I stayed here for a week during February this year. It was our first time visiting Melbourne and staying here definitely did not disappoint. After a full day of walking around, site-seeing, etc it was nice to go back to rest in a clean and comfortable place, ready to be re-energised for the next day.

Except for one particular staff member (who was probably having a bad day), the reception was very friendly and helpful. The room we got had the king sized bed, was spacious (we were able to leave our son's stroller unfolded and still had plenty of room to move around), well cleaned and had nice modern decor.

What I liked best about staying here is its location. It is located right next to Southern Cross Station, which made it really accessible to various tram stops. At Southern Cross Station itself, you'll find Woolies, Red Rooster, Mad Mex and other eateries. Also, the bus depot for the airport service is conveniently located here too.

We would definitely consider staying here again, the next time we visit Melbourne.

My partner and I stayed here over the Easter break and I expected a simple, basic service and room. However, what I got was fantastic customer service and a clean, spacious, modern room. Whilst the rooms are basic - you get a kitchenette (mini bar, kettle and microwave), they were what we required. We didn't need a full blown self-contained kitchen - we're on holidays! This means the savings = more spending money.

We got the king size bed which was great. Spacious and large and no one bumping into each other at night and disturbing the other's sleep.

We had some issues with the lock and our key and the staff was very happy to resolve it as quickly as possible with no disruption to us - even past midnight!

Their reception area is manned 24 hours so you can be sure that someone will be there to help you.

Travelodge Docklands is located right near Southern Cross Station and various tram stops. It's also very close to the Harbour Esplanade and Etihad Stadium.

It seems like quite a popular place with Asian tourists who can be quite loud..

Overall, it was an enjoyable stay and we would be returning.

We booked an overnight stay through a special that was shown on Postcards for $89. The room was small and very basic. Postcards showed it as an modern renovated hotel. The restaurant area had white tables and coloured chairs extremely basic. To top it off when when we were leaving the room on checkout we found out that there was a fire in the building and lifts were all closed. We took the stairs (we were on the 10th floor) only to find out that someone had burnt something in the microwave. There were dozens of people in the foyer checking out and staff very stressed. The whole ordeal took 90 minutes and we missed our breakfast appointment.

Approximate cost: $89.00
