We went here tonight for a friend's 40th Birthday dinner and had a reserved table for 10 of us. We started off with drinks which was fine but when we went to order our meals the person there didn't seem to want to be there. She was really slow taking our orders and not happy when we asked for slight changes or omissions from the menu.

The food came out staggered so that by the time the last person got their meal some of us had almost finished ours. A few of the group had to send their meals back as they were cold and when they were brought back to the table they were slammed down.

My girlfriend had the Lemon Pepper Calamari and Prawn combo and asked for it with vegies instead of chips and salad and I ordered the grass fed Scotch Fillet with a Mushroom sauce and vegies. I think Sharon got the best meal of the night! My vegies were cold but I was starving so I didn't bother sending it back. The steak was cooked medium-rare as requested but for a $29 meal I would have thought that the quality of the meat would have been better. I'm still picking fat out of my teeth.

Even when the coffee was brought out and the Birthday girl asked how many shots of coffee were in her mug the waitress looked at her like she was born on another planet!

Overall the food was average and the service was lousy and when you're paying nearly $30 per main it's not good enough. I have been to a number of ALH pubs before for a bistro meal and even if the food was not up to scratch at least the service was friendly.

We have been here a few times before ... I don't think we'll be going back! Or, if we do, we might give Graziers Steakhouse a go instead.

We went for dinner on a weeknight and had a nice meal. We had a garlic pizza to start which was loaded up with garlic which was great. It was quite large so if you have this then don't have any of the complimentary bread rolls. The meals didn't take very long to arrive. I had the lasagne which came with chips and salad. It was good however the lasagne needed more tomato as it was very meaty.
Good pub meal.

Great food and excellent service. Very friendly staff. Meals are generous in size and fairly priced. Makes for a great night out an we will be going back soon!

I visited the Stamford Hotel earlier this year with my family, celebrating a birthday. We arrived to the bistro without making a booking, and we were seated promptly. I found the bistro to have a noisy environment - there is a children's playground area, however I found that the noise from the playground traveled throughout the entire dining area, providing a noisy and echoing dining experience.

After looking at the menu and finding a few vegetarian options, none of which sounded appealing on that particular night, I was able to order the entree dish of nachos as a main course. I was impressed with the menu flexibility in this situation.

After ordering meals, they took perhaps 20-30 minutes to arrive, a little longer than what I would expect in a hotel bistro. This was disheartening, however the quality of the meals made up for it. Serving sizes were generous, and all appeared to be fresh. The nachos were some of the best I have tried! The dipping sour cream was fresh and the guacamole tasted homemade and delicious. The salsa was just right - not too spicy, but not tasteless. Salsa and cheese toppings had been added sensibly - enough for those who enjoy more, but not too much. It was a great meal. My family only had positive things to say about their meals, too (which included pasta, chicken schnitzel, and fish).

After dinner, we ordered cakes from the dessert bar. The cakes were presented beautifully and were of a high quality homemade standard.

Prices were as expected for a hotel bistro.

If I was in the area I would definitely come back to the Stamford Hotel for another meal, however perhaps not during family dining hours. It was an enjoyable experience, however I would prefer to return at a quieter time of the day.

Nice meals, good service. No Lambs fry available at 12:30 lunchtime on a Thursday, even though it was on the menu, not sure why, as there is plenty of Spring lamb around at the moment.

Have only been there twice. First time was better than the second time. Was not too happy with the food the second time. Tasted rather dry, perhaps not too fresh.

Poor food and poor service. The staff in particular the Manager of Stamford is rude & can not handle negative feedback. Stamford can do so much better, in my opinion they need a revamp of staff as the place has potential.
