OK so we had a bit of a rocky start. re: Rosie selling the business to Potters Receptions. At first we were disappointed, as alot of the contract was not being honored. Such as the wedding night accommodation, pre drinks for the bridal party in the cellar, use of the lake house for photo's etc. Apart from that, our main concern was the renovations they decided to commence a couple months prior to our wedding... When we met up with Potters shortly after they took over, their building was half decked, there were Tonka trucks everywhere, and it quite obviously looked under construction. This made me feel worse, to the point I started looking else where... Remembering I had already spent money on the invites with Riverlea printed, I decided to suck it up.
As the day neared, we kept doing drive buys and to be honest it was coming together quite quickly, the drive way lined with palm trees, the deck complete, the building painted, the lake house renovated and complete.
Ok so getting to the day, I could not of asked it to be anymore perfect. The staff were lovely, and extremely accommodating to the bridal party. They brought us drinks and canapé's out during photo's, they let us use the lake house which was stunning. The food was perfect. I am still receiving complements to this day about the food. Especially the lamb shanks! My score above is purely based on the day. To be honest they were absolutely fantastic, and even after the bad start, I would still recommend this venue. I believe once they re-open, this will definitely be one of the most stunning reception venues in Victoria.

We are also booked to have our wedding in March (5 months). Although they did not cancel our reception we have been advised we are not entitled to the accommodation, we can not have pre - drinks in the cellar, and can not do a menu tasting prior. Although it was part of our contract, they will not compensate for any of our losses. Im not too fussed about that but its the fact that they were rude about it and careless, and not willing to offer us anything for it! Im absolutely disgusted. Mind u she was more than happy to help us find somewhere else!! For 5 months time, I don't think so!! I would not recommend at all dealing with Potters/Riverlea, if you are after kind and caring event managers, then these are not the people for you.

I would like to know where we stand legally with regards to our contract.....

Will wait and see how the wedding goes to see if I have anything good to say about it!

I'm absolutely appauled at the lack of care this business takes. We were booked in to have our wedding there in less than 12 months, they have gone and sold it, never bothered to tell us, and have cancelled our wedding! Now we have to go and find a new venue! I'm shocked that either this venue, or the venue of the new owners, Potters is still in business!

We had our wedding at Riverlea and had a fantastic day and night. We looked at many venues and Riverlea stood out for price, quality and value for money. The venue is gorgeous - we had the ceremony in the rose garden overlooking the small lake. Then into the glass ceiling atrium for our reception. All the table linen and decorations were included in the price and it looked spectacular. The food was absolutely delicious! (Thanks to the free dinner we had to sample the meals and choose our menu for our wedding). The staff were great as well - efficient and unobtrusive. Included in the wedding package was our wedding night accommodation in a gorgeous country-style room with a spa and bacony overlooking the lake, with breakfast served the next morning.
