The food was good but the service was deplorable. I was there for lunch with a group of friends and we had wait 40 minutes for the surly waitress to take our drinks order. Our meal was served 1hour and 45 minutes after we arrived. We were not offered further drinks or the dessert menu.

Approximate cost: $24.00

Hi Anonymous Member, thanks for your comments. Hopefully the business in question will read this review and deal with the â??surlyâ?? staff member in which you speak. Regards, Reeces

I haven't had the chance to have a meal there yet but i have been there a few times for drinks the drinks are really reasonably priced compared to alot of other bars people are friendly as are the staff but dont be surprised if your stuck waiting at the bar for ages waiting to be served even if there is no one else waiting

Great venue, and friendly staff. Lovely views over the hills with Puffing Billy going past regularly. The food quality does vary alot though. I have had good meals and poor meals here over the last 2 years. I think the chefs change a bit and the menu never seems to change. Too much fatty food not enough healthy options

Always receive a nice meal for your money. Good open dinning area. Nice outlook looking over the valley and at Puffing Billy.
Great customer service.
A lot of car parking.

Approximate cost: $50

I have eaten here twice recently. The first time I only had Bruschetta and it was very ordinary. There were hardly any tomatoes, no basil to speak of and the garlic was that mushed garlic that you get in jars for cooking.
Against my better judgement and after a walk, we decided to eat there again last Sunday because we couldn't be bothered cooking. My husband had the lamb curry which was mostly fat. I know lamb is a fatty meat but there was a substantial amount of grizzle. Not worth the $25! I had the pumpkin risotto. I should have sent it back! It was a gluggy mess and there was hardly any pumpkin. The little bits of pumpkin I did find had been cooked with the skin on. I could also taste the flour or cornflour they must have used to thicken it and it stayed on my taste buds all night. THey had mixed in cream and butter to disguise the fact that they obviously knew it wasn't up to much. It was seriously disgusting and I shouldn't have paid for it.
My son's pizza and chips was of the frozen variety and tasteless and the chips were greasy! Why are there no healthy options for children?
We spent around $70 for the meals and wine and it was a total waste of money.
A waiter asked my Husband if we enjoyed our meals when he went to pay and my Husband explained that we hadn't but there was no offer to reduce the cost.
My glass was dirty and I had to send it back.
The view was nice but that's about it.

Approximate cost: $25

Hi Jacqdragonfly, poorly executed food, grubby glassware and inadequate customer service are all reasons enough to put us off visiting this establishment. Given the basic nature of bruschetta, it is vital that the freshest and best ingredients be used and (at the risk of sounding like a food snob), it should never contain anything other than â??freshâ?? garlic! Iâ??ll say it again; risotto is one of the easiest dishes to create and doesnâ??t need to be â??tramped-upâ?? with cream. As you already were aware, a decent risotto does not need a thickening agent! From what you have described, it sounds like this chef needs retraining. Thanks for the heads-up! Regards, Reeces

I was so disapointed when we visited here. My partner and I had both spent time as kids visiting this pub and always enjoyed eating on the balcony outside where birds would come up to you. Unfortunately, they decided to close the balcony in, so while you can see outside and look directly onto puffing billy, the birds are gone. The food was expensive for what it was - $18 for a sweet potato salad that was all mushy and gross although my partner was more impressed with his chicken dish. It is just a shame what theyve done to the place - it used to be a great place to eat and look out onto the dandenongs.

Hi SarahM16, one can only assume that the business in question enclosed the balcony in an attempt to avoid having to clean up after the birds. Unfortunately, in doing so, they have marred the view and subsequently the experience. Irrespective of this, sounds like they need to brush-up on their culinary skills. Thanks for the notification. Regards, Reeces
