Novotel st kilda is a lovely place to stay.
Great location with beach very close and shops around the corner.
Tram stop out the front
Great online price for Saturday night.
No ocean view but not expected
Good sized basic room.
Great shower.
Bed ok but quite soft.
Very thin walls and could hear neighbours clearly.
However still happy to recommend and return

I and three friends went into the Novotel and ordered cocktails. None of the cocktails were made properly. Mine was a Toblerone, which is supposed to contain 3 different types of alcohol. I could not detect any alcohol at all - it tasted like a chocolate milkshake, similar to what you could get in McDonalds, and since I paid $18, I perhaps should have gone to McDonalds!

I stayed at this hotel recently as part of a work conference, and have to say I was quite disappointed by the rooms.
For a four star hotel, it felt more like it was bordering 3 stars.

The room felt like it was definitely in the "no frills" category, and the two single beds, pushed together to make a king created a very obvious and uncomfortable bulge where they met in the middle.

The rooms very quite plain and my toilet moved when I sat on it. Did not have a shower, so not sure about how the pressure was.

The reception area is an odd layout, with no real room to queue and no information as to where you should be standing if you made one.

Breakfast, again, quite a strange location. You have to walk down two flights of stairs to a lower level then walk down a carpeted corridor. It was quite ill-placed and inconvenient to be honest.

Would not consider returning to this property unless it had a total refurb.

Stayed here on a getaway weekend found that the hotel is in the ideal location to the tram station and the Beach. There are a number of restaurants in walking distance of the hotel. Rooms are newly refurbished and staff are fantastic.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a conference for work reasons and found the staff efficient and courteous. As part of the Accor chain, there are certain idocynracies - such as no saucers with the coffee cup and few bathrobes. However, the downstairs cafe and eateries offer a range of fresh food and beverages so we couldn't complain. The outdoor swimming pool might be useful in summer, if you cannot find a lane in the public baths across the road. The outdoor bar area and view of the beach are great. The Airport bus and taxi ranks are just outside the front door.

Approximate cost: $290.00

I booked the room direct with the hotel several months ago on a 'summer special' package and requested a non-smoking room. The room reeked of smoke, was very run down and badly in need of refurbishment. The buffet breakfast next morning was ordinary at best. Not a hotel I could recommmend, mainly because it is very over-priced for what it is.

Approximate cost: $300
