Dr Mark at Doncaster Hill Dental is an excellent dentist. He's highly experienced, thorough yet very efficient. The dental practice is also modern with friendly staff.
I highly recommend Doncaster Hill Dental, especially seeing Dr Mark for dental services.

The most impatient and arrogant dentist I have met! I brought my 4yo daughter for her second visit yesterday and it was a terrible experience. On our first visit, I've already felt that the dentist was very impatient with my kids. It was my 7yo's second visit and my 4yo's first visit. Upon checking on my 4yo's teeth, which had some decay, she made me feel like I was the worse mother for not taking care of her teeth! Granted my little girl has a sweet tooth but I do strive to brush her teeth twice everyday since very young. I was hoping the dentist would do some cleaning but were we had a make a separate appointment for that! I was a bit reluctant to come back but I thought we should follow through and made sure my girl's teeth are cleaned as soon as possible.
Our next appointment was rescheduled TWICE by their reception. Second time, I had to take the trouble to get help from a friend to pick my son up after school, just to make the appointment which the dental called to change at last minute! I was even told not to be late because the dentist's schedule was tight. I arrived about 5 minutes late after the rush, and still had to wait another 20 minutes! When the dentist was finally "free", she was again very impatient. Obviously a 4yo needed to be cajoled a little to let the dentist check her teeth, but after just one or two attempts, she told me "maybe I should refer you to a paediatric dentist and put her on gas"!! But her assistant and myself continued to cajole my little girl, after just a while, she cooperated (very proud of my little girl). Nevertheless, I tried to keep my cool, trying not to make it look like a bad experience for my child. And then, when presented with the bill, I was told to pay out of pocket for a certain treatment that they can't claim from Medicare because we claimed for this with another dental clinic before! Total outrage!
I am generally a very calm and patient person and hardly have complaints on services. All the while I kept my cool from start to beginning, but this kind of very bad customer service should be discouraged! The assistants and manager were wonderful and nice, but the dentists or owners of the practice are just terrible!

Hi Sofiene, so sorry to hear about your experience with us. Our dentists were not comfortable treating your child in the chair, as she was resisting sitting on the dental chair, and refused to even open her mouth after so many attempts, not twice, our dentists will always try more than twice but our aim is not to cause fear of the dentist in children's lives, which most adults have due to bad experiences during childhood. Due to your daughters constant crying, our dentist suggested to refer her to a paediatric dentist to avoid a bad dental experience in your daughter's life but you kept forcing her throughout for the first 20mins and kept asking our dentist to try and do it. Even-though our dentist had successfully cleaned off all the build-up on her teeth speedily as we know that a child's attention span is very short and we need to work very quickly on them if they show signs of cooperation. We hope you didn't perceive this as "impatient" while we tried our best to work the quickest we can to clean off all the build-up on a little girl, which is a very challenging situation for anyone to be in. We didn't want you to wait in the practice, that's why we called you earlier to let you know that we were running behind as emergencies can happen at times. But you said it would be too late for you, so we even accommodated you and had to move the patient before you to come later so you can come earlier, then after you said that it was too early for you, but you came earlier in the end. We were so sorry that you had to pay $34 for that visit as Medicare did not rebate for the treatment as it had been previously claimed in less than 6 months. We know that you were unhappy with this out of pocket cost and suggested us to put through another item number to make it up for this amount but we could not do so as this is considered as fraudulent but you were unhappy and wanted us to waive this amount off, which is very hard for any small businesses to absorb all the amounts ourselves, especially the fees set by Medicare. You also told us that at the previous dental practice you went to they changed the item numbers after you asked them to so you could claim with Medicare with all services being carried out without any out of pocket cost. We wished we could help, but it is not our business model to fraud the system, this is also the reason why Medicare is taking away child dental benefit from all private practices, which is a very sad thing for us to see that many families and children who really needed it will be missing out from this great benefit started by government couple years ago.

What a load of lies! The dentist DID NOT spend 20 minutes trying to treat my daughter. My daughter DID NOT cry AT ALL! She was just a little uncomfortable. I DID NOT FORCE my daughter but tried several gentle ways to talk her into getting treated. I DID NOT ask you to change the item number and DID NOT ask our previous dental to change the item number (I have no idea where you got that idea from)! If you do not intend to fraud, why would dental practices ask patients to make several appointments, and hence, several charges, whereby they can treat patients at just ONE visit - not just children, even for myself. I was kind enough to wait for your receptionist to figure out the out-of-pocket issue and even came back later after waiting for too long, I could have just walked away. All in all, I have accommodated with your practice so much and this is your response? Truly disappointing.

Anyway, we were the victim here and please do not make up stories to make yourself look good. I have no gain telling lies in reviewing your practice.

We're sorry that you think that way, Sofienne. We stand by what we have already explained to you in absolute clarity and detail, and we sincerely wish you all the best.

" My introduction to Dr Lavonne was one week before going on a 1 month holiday overseas. I had a toothache that I suspected required root canal therapy. A number of dentists that I contacted offered an appointment to inspect the tooth... This annoyed me because I didn't want to have to go back a second time to get treatment. Dr Lavonne offered treatment on my first visit and much to my delight informed me that I may not require root canal treatment. I have been back to her a second time since and am so impressed with her service and skill that I have recommended my partner to change dentists."

From my first contact with DHD I was impressed, they returned calls promptly and were on the ball! The practice was really clean and we were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. The whole team was fantastic with my children - which is so important! Starting a foundation for lifetime of no dental fear!

The pricing was what initially drew me to enquire, with health insurance our cost was $0. In the past, even with health cover, we have been substantially out of pocket with other dentists!

Approximate cost: $0
