This was great in that there was a playground for the kids...but sadly it seems that where venues are kid friendly, the food is often not up to standard- which was the case in this instance.
My MIL couldn't finish her fish- it was just awful.
My husband's parma was very average.
My noodle stir fry was just edible.

Wouldn't return.

This is my local, and while the beer is always cold and the company good, the food is very up and down.

Three times we have eaten in the bistro and the first time wasn't too bad. The second time was very average and last time we went (Melbourne Cup Day this year) it was worse than average. Hayley and I shared a Sharing Plate that was nothing like the description in the menu and Sharon had the Salmon and had to send it back as it was burnt. Thankfully our waitress noticed that we were not happy and arranged for the correct items to come out for our Sharing Plate and Sharon's Salmon was re-cooked.

While some of the staff are very helpful, others seem to be rather indifferent. While I would always go here for a beer or three, there are many other dining options available in the Bayswater area that would win hands down on the food.

Approximate cost: $25

The Good old Bayswater Hotel is good for a counter meal or watching live entertainment and having kids parties there. It may not look that great from the outside but the atmosphere inside is good and the food is great.

We've eaten here regularly for the past few years, both for counter meal lunch's & dinners in the bistro.
Food is always good quality, staff are friendly & the play area is great for entertaining the kids!

After eating in the bistro section we discovered the bar side section which sells a slightly more limited menu and does not offer specials but at a very affordable price. The meals are generally consistant , ample parking and makes for a perfect place to eat some cheaper no nonsense tucker.

Approximate cost: $12
