This review is for Little Blowhole Cafe, Kiama NSW

This is a lovely little out-of-the-way cafe in Kiama near the Little Blowhole. The food etc. is organic, locally made and very tasty. The coffee is excellent and the service charming. The quaint unusual thing about the cafe is that the door is often open but they are "Closed" and this is very confusing especially on a Wednesday which is their day off. It looks so open and inviting but "Sorry! We are closed".

This is the place to go to get things that are British like tea, jam, drinks, lollies, chocolates etc.etc. that you can only get in Britain. I love their "sandwich spread". The unfortunate thing is that they seem to have less and less British things each time I visit! The other great attraction is the large choice of loose lollies that you can put in a bag and weigh. While these are international there are some famous British "gobstoppers". This is worth a visit just to browse.

We arrived in the pouring rain so had difficulty finding a seat so we opted for outside under a big umbrella until a table became available. The food is excellent and we had the all day breakfast which was quantity and quality. Excellent coffee! Although the service was excellent I found it rather irritating that the young man serving us kept asking:"How are you today?"

This a fantastic little cottage cafe in one of the original houses. The service is fast even when busy and one can sit out at the front or inside or in a delightful courtyard at the back. It is "cafe food" but is well presented, nourishing, fresh and not too expensive. I was delighted by my fish and salad and my daughter's burger was huge! However, it can get very hot both inside and outside despite all their efforts to keep everybody cool and in the shade. Otherwise this would rate as five stars without hesitation!

It is already Five Star Famous and this review confirms it. They were so busy but we only waited about ten minutes. The chips were crisp, the fish batter crisp and tasty and the potato scallops/scollops were perfectly crisp, not dry and not horribly oily. By the time we had walked them nearly one kilometre to a friend's house they were still very very hot! A most fantastic experience.

I've gone passed this place so many times at different times and am amazed at the queue! So, I joined the queue and was amazed at the fast service and excellent quality of food. Chips are tasty and crunchy, so id the beer battered fish and the potato scallops/scollops are the same. Excellent value too. For Five people we ate our fill for under $50.

Difficult to find as there is one small sign but no clues as to where it is. I guess everybody knows the place if they are local. Bad weather today but it is a lovely drive or train ride from Sydney on a normal day! Stuck in the Surf Club this "five star prices" restaurant has a lovely view over the beach and sea but on a cold day it has no heating and is draughty! Menu is only fish and nothing for the children. I ordered fish and chips $28 but the fish is "on the bone" so I asked for fried fish. I was told they don't do fried fish! (Their take away kiosk does but they don't!) So, I settled for a bowl of chips $10. There were about ten big chips in a bowl but they didn't taste like chips! I think they'd put lots of peppar or something on them. The positive of this experience is that the coffees are very hot and actually taste of coffee. For a wonderful family afternoon, excellent coffee and a view of the sea in a storm this was a great experience. Service was fast and efficient.

It looks like a normal take away shop from the outside but at the back there is a most fantastic restaurant. Considering it was a Saturday and pretty full, the service was fast and efficie nt. They seem to put all the food down first before clearing the previous course and having cleared everything away dessert was served on three trays but no plates or serviettes!!! Despite these small things it was well worth the drive from Sydney (one and a half hours). Excellent food, not too much, not too little and excellent service. $35 for a banquet is really good value.

I had to wait a long time just to give my order but it was worthwhile. They don't give their telephone number or website (if any). This shop opened a few years ago right next to Saltwater and in competition. Saltwater is excellent. I highly recommend it. JAWS is slightly better quality and slightly cheaper. No takeaway to look at menu and the service can be slow but it is well worth it if you go there at the right time.
