The vets and nurses at Maribyrnong Veterinary Clinic are wonderful and very helpful. We have been taking out pets to this vet clinic since it opened. Recently our dog of 16 years had to be euthanised due to arthritis and ill health (basically old age). The staff were very understanding and compassionate and did not rush us into any decisions at all. We could not have asked for friendly staff in such a trying situation for the family. 5 stars all the way!

Nice fish and chip shop. The fish servings are a little on the small size compared to the price, however is always cooked well and very tasty. This fish and chip shop is usually quite busy and it is not uncommon to wait 20 minutes for your order. Best to place an order ahead of time if possible.

Great Thai restaurant, located in the fairly new Edgewater precinct. The food was lovely and the staff extremely friendly. The prices are reasonable, however a little on the more expensive side compared to other Thai restaurant - nothing over the top though. We have dined here multiple times and will continue to return.

Approximate cost: $15-25

This restaurant is always packed - it's advisable to make a booking! The reason it is always packed is because the food is sensational. The cashew and sweet chilli chicken stir-fry is fantastic - highly recommended.

DISCOUNT TIP: Monday night is $9 noodle night, Tuesday night is $9 stir-fry night and Wednesday night is $9 curries.

The only downside to this restaurant is the size - it is quite small and mostly communal long tables. Apart from that, it is a suburb restaurant.

Approximate cost: $9-12

This review is for Central West Charcoal Chicken, Braybrook VIC

verified email - 24 May 2011

Central West Charcoal Chicken has very quickly become our favourite chicken shop. The chicken is cooked to perfection and the chips are wonderful - always crisp and never soggy. We always ask for additional chicken salt :-)

Apart from the obvious (chicken and chips), Central West Charcoal Chicken has a variety of other hot dishes - fish, spring rolls, roast potatoes, scalloped potatoes, peas, etc. They also have an extensive arrangement of salads.

The staff have always been friendly, no matter what we order. Sometimes we only order medium or large chips and we are always greeted upon walking in the door.

The prices are comparable to other chicken shops within the area and there are a number of different combos/meals available.

Approximate cost: $5-13

Excellent cafe with a variety of hot and cold meals available for breakfast and lunch.

Harbour Cafe is very reasonably priced - sandwiches $6.00, soup of the day with bread $6.00, pasta $8.80 and other hot dishes under $9.00).

The staff are always friendly and go the extra mile to serve you with a smile :-)

Fantastic cafe, fantastic food, fantastic staff, fantastic prices for the Docklands area.

We go there multiple times a week. 5 stars all the way!

This review is for Ocean Thai Restaurant, Williamstown VIC

verified email - 21 May 2011

Ocean Thai used to be my favourite Thai restaurant. The food was always spectacular, the service outstanding and the prices very cheap and reasonable compared to the other Thai restaurant a few doors down. Unfortunately, the owners decided to sell and Ocean Thai is now under new management. Whilst the service is still great, the food is just not as good as it used to be and lacks flavour. We won't be travelling there again, we'll find something closer to home.

Approximate cost: $10-25

This review is for Cafe Mambo, Sunshine VIC

verified email - 21 May 2011

Cafe Mambo is a cheap, cheerful cafe where the staff are pleasant, the food plentiful and the service quick.

The entrée spaghetti bolognese is quite a large serving with plenty of pasta, but lacking a little with meaty sauce. Nevertheless, it was very nice and I've ordered it again on other visits. The pizza base is light and fluffy - thumbs up and the pizza is fantastic! The chicken avocado main meal, apart from being a massive serve, was sensational - highly recommended! As for desert, the sundaes are large and tasty and the variety of cakes are pretty good.

Cafe Mambo is a great place for a cheap dinner out, especially before going to see a movie at Village.

Approximate cost: $7.5-25

This review is for Lamore, Docklands VIC

verified email - 21 May 2011

Have been to this restaurant many times, mostly for lunch. I can honestly recommend the pizza (Hawaiian is great), however their spaghetti bolognese was dreadful - very, very salty like someone dropped the WHOLE salt shaker in the sauce! I thought the first time might have been a once off incident, so I ordered the spag bol again on my next visit, but it was the same. I've also had the chicken parma, which was pretty average and the lasagne which was burnt on the bottom (aka black and tasted terrible). As previously said, the pizza is the way to go and every time I go to Lamore I order pizza!!!

The service cannot be faulted. The staff are very nice and helpful. Frank (who I imagine is the owner or manager) is always lovely and the staff welcome you as soon as you walk in the door.

The layout is a little cluttered to maximise as many tables at possible and the stairs are quite steep to the upstairs dining area.

All in all, this is a nice little restaurant to have a nice pizza.

DISCOUNT TIP: Monday is discount pizza day - small $10, large $14 (I think, I only order the small). Tuesday is pasta day (not sure on the price as I certainly won't be ordering pasta again).

Approximate cost: $10-30
