This review is for The Guilty Rogue, Brisbane QLD

The Guilty Rogue is still a very new place which takes off from where the old Tinbilly's use to be located on George Street. The place has certainly had a make over and stepped things up a bit. I wouldn't class it as fine dining more an up market/classy pub. Whilst there I had a nice angus rump and chips. I would have liked to combine that with a beer but unfortunately my boss would not have approved. So it remained a very classy lemon lime and bitters. I think the food whilst not quite at fine dining level, it is definitley a step up from pub quality. One thing I also noticed is that so many different types of people go here, business people, people on a day out in the city and also back packers. It was pretty crowded at lunch time but that's to be expected. The staff are chatty and mentioned to check out their website. Service is great, parking forget it, catch the train I say. I'm quite pleased with it and I would definitely go back. I'm hoping to go back again in the next week or so before I start holidays.

I'm really grateful to this vet surgery. I have 2 cats and was having big issues with trying to cut their nails and I also required them to be micro-chipped. The vets worked really hard to do both jobs but the cats would not play ball. They both had to be put under to have the nails clipped and micro-chipping done. One cat came out ok and the other suffered effects of the anesthetic. The cat for three days was a bit ill, but the wonderful staff gave us strategies and advice on what to do and now the cat is good as new. It turned out to be a small reaction from the anesthetic. The vets here really do go above and beyond what is required of them and I and the two cats appreciate them. Thankyou.

This review is for Urban Burger, Wellington Point QLD

Gourmet Burgers is what this place is all about, I've tried about 4 of the burger options so far and my favourite remains "the King" with a special mention to Urban Aussie. It's a very stylish burger outlet and is better to eat in then get take-away to fully enjoy the atmosphere. The burgers are quite expensive, but they are super huge and pretty decent quality. Their chips are also very nice. If you don't like the burgers, they also have wraps, but after having both, I still prefer the burgers. Well worth checking out, I had a great time.

This review is for Thaisons, Ormiston QLD

I just found one of the best kept thai secrets.....Thaisons. This was my very first time there and I loved it. I had curry puffs as a starter, then thai green curry as my main. One word...delicious. The staff were amazing, restaurant beautifully laid out. While I was in there, so many people came in for take away, so that was a definite sign this place is good and it sure is that. I've lived near this place since 2008, how on earth did I miss this. Guess whose going back at the first available opportunity..... I'll give you a big hint....ME!!!! Please book though. The staff helped us out this time but it's very busy and if you want a good seat....book :)

This review is for Noci Italian Restaurant, Cleveland QLD

Two visits so far and appears to get better each time I go. On my first go round I decided to start with the garlic bread they had on offer. When I got to the main I chose to have rib eye fillet. At just over 30 bucks for that main I thought it was slightly overpriced and probaly should have been under the 30. It was a nice feed though and of good quality. When it came around to desert, I just couldn't fit any more in. The next time I went (just a few weeks back) I changed how I did things which I found more suitable, I ditched the garlic bread, just had a main and then went to the desert. I was pretty impressed by the deserts too. I was going to go for the sticky date but chose the chocolate honey comb. It was not bad, I think I would have preferred the sticky date option. It's really nicely located aswell and my wife and I chose to go for a walk along the harbour there it was all in all a good night. My only mistake was not booking. The restaurant was nice enough to squeeze the two of us in. But do make sure you book ahead, it was a bit rude of me not too. Will go again.

Approximate cost: $Just under 100

This review is for Amuris Cafe, Cleveland QLD

Quite impressed by this place. To be honest I never knew it existed until recently. I've been for an appointment with my wife at the Hospital and after we were finished we both felt hungry and didn't want to eat at the hospital itself. That lacks atmosphere for me. Across the road from the hospital though was a nice little cafe we found called Amuris. It's very welcoming and we enjoyed a muffin and beautiful coffee. It was nice and quiet there despite the fact it is located opposite a busy hospital. It has plenty of parking and easy to get in and out of which I liked. The staff were really nice to us and it was great to just sit there for half an hour and enjoy the day together. I think the big plus for this place other than the good quality food and staff was the fact that it's not a hospital cafe, it's separate and you can get your mind off thin gs. I've been to hospital cafe's before and it just doesn't feel right for me. Go and enjoy Amuris Cafe, I liked it. I'm not 100% sure of their trading hours so best to check that before you go and avoid any possible disappointment.

This review is for Gilhooley's Irish Pub, Brisbane QLD

verified email - 26 Sep 2013

You can't beat Gilhooleys, I love the feel of when I go into the place. It's cosy and I find it's a great place for drinks. I also go there quite a bit for lunch. I went there with a few work colleagues a couple of weeks back and I chose the rump steak for a little over 11 bucks I got a nice steak, some mushroom sauce and chips. I was disappointed to have to pay extra if I wanted salad. Steak Meals should always come with chips and salad so that is a bad point I must point out. I'm really not sure why Gilhooley's do that and I'm really not a fan of it. The other meal I've enjoyed there was a tandoori wrap.
But on the bright side, the steaks are good and chips are not bad. The venue has plenty of room and it's a great place to chill and relax. I recommend if you are going for lunch to go at 11:30am, I found when I go just after 12pm, it's just packed and a bit slow and I am limited with work breaks. Staff are pretty good, can't complain. I will definitely go back again.

Approximate cost: $11.90 plus drink

This review is for The Norman Hotel, Woolloongabba QLD

verified email - 24 Sep 2013

The Normal Hotel is fantastic, it was extremely hot when I went so it was a pleasure to head inside and enjoy the cool air. I really enjoyed watching the sport on the big telly's but got in trouble from the wife for paying more attention to them then her. Guys, pay attention to your wife. But all was fixed when I put our orders in, I got a lovely steak with potatoe, bacon and a nice salad for around 30ish. My only regret is not getting the 400g steak, I got a glimpse of it when getting my order, I was still happy with mine but seriously 400g steak is just plain awesome. To get that though I think you need about $38. I would have paid it though. My steak I got was perfect. The Norman must have close to the best steaks in Brissy I reckon. They are not the cheapest, but personally I reckon the meals are worth every cent. Parking was great. Staff friendly. Am I going back? Yes, but for the 400g steak!!!!!

This review is for Criterion Tavern, Brisbane QLD

verified email - 21 Sep 2013

The Criterion is a fairly good choice as far as lunch venues go. I've been there a few times now and I do like the snitzel and the steak lunches. They do some cheap lunches but just check the days before you go, it's not the whole week. I've also had some after work drinks here and as far as that goes it's nice. It's a little bit away from all the other pub type areas in the city which in itself isn't all bad. The staff there are a bit of a mixed bag I'm afraid, some are excellent and some just don't provide good service at all. The atmosphere is good and premises nice and tidy. Recommended.

This review is for The Victory Hotel, Brisbane QLD

With a short time till the baby's due, My friends thought it would be a great idea to catch up for some drinks at the Victory. We chose to go on a Friday and went for a few hours. It was great, fantastic drink prices. I must admit before this I hadn't been for some time. However it use to be a work drinks staple to go there. Drinks are excellent and my mates and I have spent alot of time in the beer garden. We primarily go here for the cheap drinks and live music, the victory showcases good talent. I've also used the $10 lunches which were great. I did find out first hand though when I went to go back on a friday that the lunches only run from Monday - Thursday (disappointing). But I guess that's my fault for not checking first. Even still the prices are reasonable. I still remember the old victory before the new reno's, I sure miss it, but the new reno is still good.
