We recently adopted a one year old cat from the shelter, and are so happy with her!
As we adopted her as an adult (over 4 months) she only cost $85. This is amazing value, as not only are we saving her life (priceless to us!) but the cost included desexing, microchipping, council registration, first vaccination and worming.
For about 1 month we visited the shelter looking for a pet and each time we did the staff were friendly and seemed to genuinely care for the animals. It was also great to see the turnover of animals that were being sold and not being put down. It makes me happy to have made a responsible choice (because of the compulsory desexing) for an animal in need :D
Approximate cost: $65 - $250
This a great market! I've been a few times and each time manage to find something eg. childhood favorite movies on vhs, quality handmade soaps, vintage glassware, herb plants. It has many stall holders ranging from fresh fruit and vegetables, plants, 'car boot sale' type stalls, to video games, donut vans and indian food. It's a nice way to spend an hour or so on a Sunday morning!
Pretty decent sized op-shop with a lot of second hand clothing at really reasonable prices. They also have a large section of books, bags and general household goods. I've found some tops there but some of the clothes are little old/out dated.
Approximate cost: $.5 - $15
Great range of quality second hand furniture, and other antique/collectibles such as vases, painting etc, but as is seen with a lot of charity shops these days, some of the prices are verging on a bit dear.
Really nice mexican food. Large variety of meals and drinks to choose from. There were four of us dining, and everyones meal was a generous size. Way too noisy though and the meals did take a while.
Approximate cost: $18-20
I wasn't impressed at all with their chips. Too greasy, as though they were cooked in oil that wasn't hot enough. The potato cakes were also really horrid, and undercooked with way too much batter on them. I haven't been back, because i've also had friends who had the same bad experience.
Approximate cost: $5-10
Very friendly staff, especially the owner who is always pleased to see you. The food is really tasty, with a large variety of dishes for meat eaters. The only problem I have is, being vegetarian, I am limited to only a handful of dishes, but it's not too bad as the ones i've had have been great.
Approximate cost: $17
Very tasty baked potatoes! I only went with the standard (coleslaw, sour cream, cheese, butter and lemon salt) but it was the best baked potato i've had! Huge size and very fluffy potatoes. My partner had the mexicana one, which he also thoroughly enjoyed.
Approximate cost: $8-9
Just had drinks and a light meal. Their freshly squeezed juice was really nice, and the pizza bread with sweet chilli and sour cream was pretty tasty. The lighting and seats inside were pretty cool too.
Approximate cost: $10
This cafe is very trendy/retro. I absolutely love the interior decor! The bench seating is really comfortable too. They have really great coffee, and the focaccia we shared was very tasty. Lovely atmosphere.
Approximate cost: $15+
