Just by adding $200 into your account a month, you can get 6.21% interest (Jun 2010) on your savings without committing to a term deposit. Yes the website is pretty badly designed and can be laggy, but who cares? Signups are a breeze too.

Good:
1) Directly linked transaction and savings accounts, the latter which gives very competitive interest (6% in May 2010).
2) Ability to use all NAB and Redi ATMs fee free, unlimited use.
3) No fees for other banking (as far as I can tell)
4) Excellent telephone support.
5) Simple, fast web-banking page.
6) BPay

Bad:
1) Can't make deposits at the post office anymore, only through direct debit or cheque/mail order as far as I can tell.
2) "Pay Anyone" is not enabled. This can be a good thing for some, this adds some security.
3) No SMS confirmations.

Approximate cost: $free

This review is for UNSW ARC CLB Store, Kensington NSW

It's convenient for a lot of UNSW students to get their books, chocolates, USB sticks, drinks etc from this store, but prices are much more competitive for nearly all items (esp. drinks and USB sticks) elsewhere on campus. The markups are probably to do with subsidising other ARC activities, but not a place to go to for the budget minded student generally. The fresh sandwiches are quite good, and the plain milk is reasonably priced.

Innovative, fee free banking. The savings maximiser standard rate may not be the highest anymore (UBank beats them), but the addition of the Orange Everyday service, with instant access to your money and no ATM fees if used correctly no matter what Australian ATM you use can't be beat.

Did you know that when you take $200 cashout from Woolies self service terminals with your orange everyday, ING pays you 50c from without even having to make a purchase?

$2.95 for overnight latest releases. Returns by 7pm the next day. Freebie hires via introductory promotion code (BIGRED). Sometimes the kiosk has network problems, but what more do you need to know?

Approximate cost: $2.95

This review is for Exetel, Sydney NSW

If you have an ABN, you can get the cheapest mobile internet for ANYWHERE with Exetel, where you basically only pay for what you use at 1.5c/MB. By using this service on my mobile and making calls out only on VoIP, sometimes my SIM bills are less than the cost of a can of coke!

The best "self service" support system I have seen. If you are used to traditional support holding your hand, Exetel may not be for you. If you have some technical know-how, why subsidise other people's needs?

My advice: if you are expecting traditional telecom reliability, user friendliness and support, absent of technical know-how (or ability to learn) on your side, forget Pennytel. For everyone else, these guys rock. The most innovative services and options, the best prices bar none.

The Goat curry and Kadahi Chicken I often get here are the best I have ever tasted. Sometimes the beef curries have meat that is not very tender, but the curries themselves (and the free naan for takeaways) is always top notch.

Approximate cost: $13.90
