Woody's is a fun play centre offering roller skating/roller blading as well as an indoor playground for kids including a jumping castle and a disco.
Fantastic value compared to the YMCA Fun & Fit centre about 1 minute away.
It's $6.50 per child (+ skate hire if you're skating or you can BYO), and adults are free if you're just supervising.

The YMCA nearby which offers a similar sized indoor play area is a lot more expensive (over $10 per child + about $2 per adult).

My only complaint is that you're not allowed to bring your own food, but the food options available at the venue aren't the healthiest for young kids.

Approximate cost: $6.50

I found this business through the Entertainment Book (they offer buy one get one free). The main courses are OK. I've tried the crumbed chicken before (no taste and too much breadcrumb batter), and I've tried the vegetarian cannelloni which was suppose to have a spicy salsa but had absolutely no taste whatsoever.

However, I would go there again as they have a salad/vegetable bar that comes free with main courses and that's enough for me. They offer 3 fresh salads and 2 bain marees of vegetables. Always very nice.

Other members of my party have eaten steak there and have said it's very very nice.

The service is fantastic and it's always relatively easy to get the attention of a staff member. Cannot fault their service.

Approximate cost: $30

This review is for Petterd's Plumbing, West Hobart TAS

I found Petterd's in the yellow pages and used them to move some pipes in my kitchen to get a new dishwasher to work. The man was an older gentleman who has obviously been in the business for years. In fact I think he said his father and grandfather have run the business for years as well so it's in the DNA!
He obviously knew what he was doing and filled me with confidence. The instructions in my dishwasher's manual weren't quite clear, but he had experience with other dishwashers of that brand and was able to use that knowledge to resolve my problem relatively quickly.
I would definately use this business again.

I called Price Electrical to install some new powerpoints and move some existing ones.
They turned up on time and carried out the work as per the instructions with no problems.
The account was sent within a week.
Altogether it was hassle free and I'd happily use them again.

Planet Bollywood is an Indian Restaurant that offers great packages if you want to organise a fun event with a difference.
I organised a hen's night here, and the packages are pretty good value as they include the meal + a Bollywood dancing class (pretty much belly dancing).
The decor makes the restaurant seem rather dark but it's cosy.
Conveniently located for public transport if you want to party on afterwards, although you can easily spend your whole night at the restaurant and enjoy cocktails in the lounge area after dinner.

This cafe is located where Breadd cafe used to be, near the Cancer Council shop.
There's plenty of tables and chairs if you want to eat in, or they offer very fast take away service.
All the food items I've had from here have been fantastic, and I think they are quite well priced for Hobart CBD.
They use to make large savoury scones which were divine, but they haven't made them for a while. I also recommend their flourless orange cake.
They have a wholesome soups available each day as well (not sure whether this will continue during summer).

Conveniently located near the cinemas and Big W, there's lots of free parking nearby.
It's easy to see a dressmaker here and they can do jobs quite quickly.
I did expect them to be a bit cheaper than they are, but they are the same price as a lot of prices in Hobart.
Good quality. Would probably use again.

I've heard many good reports about this restaurant, but unfortunately I can't agree.
I attended a wedding there, which would be a beautiful venue if you have less than 30 guests. The rotunda outside barely seats anyone so the majority of guests had to stand. I couldn't see any of the ceremony at all. I personally wouldn't have a ceremony there unless it's very very small and intimate.

As for the food, well if you enjoy seafood this is probably a great restaurant. I'm a non-seafood eating vegetarian and the vegetarian choices were bland an inedible.
The main meal for vegetarians was essentially spaghetti with butter and cheese sauce (stomach churning), combined with olives and mushrooms. Personally I don't think olives go with a buttery cheese sauce.
Everyone who tried the dish turned up their noses.

Another main was steak, which was a minuscule proportion. Some people said it was perfectly cooked while others weren't impressed.

The dining area itself is nice and offers a nice view. As the complex is directly underneath the flight path of taking off/landing planes it can be a bit noisy, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be noise wise.

I've eaten here a few times and never been overly impressed with either the prices, range or quality of the food.
However, last time we ate dinner there it was absolutely fantastic! They have a buffet for $21.50 (which is cheaper than a lot of their mains). The buffet only has main course dishes (ie no entres or desserts), but every dish was perfectly cooked.
When we ate there they had 1 server of steamed vegetables, 1 server of roast potatoes, a mustard chicken dish, lamb rogan josh and a roast meat.
The rogan josh was actually the best curry I've ever had.

My only complaint about the buffet is that they didn't have dinner rolls, but had butter all set out. I wonder what they thought we'd need the butter for?

Approximate cost: $22

The best thing about this salon is that you don't need to make an appointment in advance. You turn up, tell them you want a haircut and they'll tell you how long the wait is. So you can go and do your shopping and come back when they're ready.
I've only used them for kids haircuts, and have found them to be really helpful and friendly. I think the first haircut when your child is under 2 is free (saving you about $15).
Good salon, good pricing and great with kids.

Approximate cost: $15
