Lunch was delightful with attentive staff. The baguette bread was light and very enjoyable, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They have an amazing array of cakes which look stunning.

Valentine's dinner $80 set menu included glass of bubbly/beer, housemade nibbles, entree, main, dessert platter, tea/coffee and macarrons. Whole meal was superb, staff friendly, upstairs room more intimate than downstairs.

Young staff messed p anniversary order of balloons that caused quite a problem. Lomards management however were extremely helpful after my complaint, took my comments on board, refunded my money and gave me a voucher.

Huge barn of a place that's very noisy and no ambience. Had to wait ages for entree that turned up looking like it was something out of the 1970s. Had to wait over an hour for main, steak was overcooked and just plonked on a huge dollop of mash potato alongside greens that were virtually raw. Steak was sent back and had to wait 40 minutes for another, which meant the rest of our group had finished eating. Not worth the money.

Surprising for a catering company only to deliver Mon-Thurs. Initial communication by email was good. Later I emailed a question and did not receive a response. I then phoned and left a message, again no response. I phoned again and finally spoke to someone. The delivery was to my work on a Thurs. Apparently the driver could not find the entrance so instead of calling me s/he drove away and I got an email asking me to come to South Melbourne to pick it up. I rang and said this was not possible and why didn't the driver or the company call me and ask for directions. I was told the driver did try to ring which I find hard to believe as my phone was with me all day. They agreed to deliver to my home on the Friday however the delivery contained no cooking instructions. I was told they would be emailed. I had to take time out of a busy schedule to keep checking emails and eventually had to ring asking for the instructions. The person spoke to me like I was being a nuisance. I also thought the food was a bit light on and would not satiate 30 people. Extremely bad communications, possibly because I bought the package through a Scoupon deal, do not make me want to use the company again or recommend it to others.

Brother Jon's restaurant - We were told there were no tables to accommodate us (2) and after a 15 minute wait we were reluctantly given a larger table (one of three that were empty, so we could have been accommodated without waiting). They also turned away a group of nine that also could have been accommodated. To be fair it was Easter and they were a bit short staffed so quite harrassed, however one staff member was very rude, all staff telling customers not to "cut the scones but break them", negative notices everywhere inside and out, don't do this, don't do that. We ordered two soups, two glasses of wine plus water. Waited 25 minutes before the soup arrived, the wine and water came after we'd finished the meal. One soup - potato and leek - was watery. We then ordered one serve of scones plus tea and coffee. Scones came and were finished before the tea/coffee arrived. Other customers were also waiting for a long time after they'd finished eating for their drinks to arrive. Very expensive for what we had. Upon paying we were told that Devonshire tea did not include the tea and "you don't go out much as that hasn't been around since GST came in." (Which is utter nonesense as many places offer Devonshire Tea complete). So $10 for one serve of two scones plus extra for tea/coffee. It's a converted church so interior is very nice and there is a hotel attached with a nice garden- but make sure you keep off the grass and don't jump the hedges.

Approximate cost: $10-$18 for lunch
