Amazing!!! We did a king club Sofitel room and it was SOOOOOO WORTH IT! The lounge makes up for every penny you spent! We had a buffet breakfast as well as choices from the menu! Inch is antipasto and dips and breads etc. afternoon tea was divine cakes and biscuits...yum! Open bar from 5.30-7.30 with canapés was incredible and I only wish we hadn't booked dinner at 6 so we could have gotten the most out of the available drinks! Totally worth every cent and we haven't had to spend any extra except dinner which we could have done without or just had some room service later on! Enjoyed chips and a piña colada in room later on and they were amazing! Great 10yr anniversary!

Approximate cost: $440.00

Beautiful and grand hotel. You feel very special staying here. Staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Reception area is opulent and impressive. The rooms don't let you down and are comfortable, spacious and well thought out.

Stayed with family and the kids loved it (especially the lift!).

Located at the top end (Paris / Parliament end) of Collins St. It is a short work down to the centre of Melbourne for shopping etc. Transport is at the door and you can find some unique eateries in the area.

Sounds like a lovely hotel to stay in, and a good location too. Always good to find a place close to good food and wine.

We stayed in this hotel and had a fantastic time. Let me start off with the main attraction: THE VIEW. We stayed pretty high up and the view was breathtaking. The room was well appointed if a little smaller than some of the other bigger names in the CBD. The food was nice and the service was polite and efficient. To be honest i got a little dizzy from being up so high but that's nothing to do with the place itself! I'd recommend this hotel, but shop around for a good pre-paid deal like any other hotel.

Just stayed here for 4 nights including one with the "Romance Package". I loved this hotel, it was more expensive than I would normally pay but it was definitely worth the price, the rooms were beautiful, views amazing, and the service we received was first class. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Will have to splash out and stay here again!

ahhhh, the price you pay for romance ;-)

Overall a great hotel to stay in. I booked the hotel for my parents to stay there and they liked the rooms and the service. Best thing is probably the location right in the CBD, especially for business travelers. Can be pricey and the rooms are not big. Single beds are tiny so would not recommend those

One of the best Hotels in Melbourne...Classic entrance, great lobby and exceptional service. Rooms are immaculate with great views if on a high floor. The cafe has fantastic meals and again awesome views of the city. Only disappointment was no pool to relax in...But nothing is perfect hey.

Just one of the hotels in Melbourne on my list to stay in.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary for two nights. Although it was pricey it was well worth it. We had spectacular views of the city and had an amazing time. The rooms were cleaned everyday and I loved the paper in the mornings. The staff were always friendly and didn't hassle or bother you very much. It was a great hotel and a nice weekend without kids.

Great place for a night out, my girlfriend had a birthday so we stayed here for a night in a deluxe corner room which had amazing views of the MCG side and the bay as well. Moomba was on in Melbourne and it was a short walk to all the activities along the river and the fireworks at night were a great sight. Would recommend anyone staying in Melbourne to spend the bit extra for the Sofitel not a cheap hotel in the city and treat yourself to spectacular views of the city and a great nights sleep in the Sofitels special bed.

(Please note that this review is about Sofi's High Tea Buffet, which is part of The Sofitel Melbourne)

This was my first “High Tea” experience, and I absolutely loved it. We booked a few weeks in advanced for the afternoon High Tea Buffet session for three people.

The dining area is actually located on level 16 or so, and when we arrived, we were seated at a table by the window with an amazing view of Melbourne. The room was elegant and chic and as the session began, they had a musician playing the keyboard - was such an amazing atmosphere. When my friends and I were looking for a place for high tea, we were really worried that The Sofitel was going to be a bit too posh for us, but when we arrived there were families with kids there as well, so the vibe was quite relaxed and friendly.

You get a complimentary wine when you arrive but the High Tea Buffet is basically that, all you can eat High Tea. They have everything you'd expect at High Tea, finger sandwiches (Cucumber sandwiches and Salmon sandwiches were my favourites!), Cakes (Strawberry tart is my top pick), freshly baked Scones, jam & whipped cream (absolutely divine) and hot options including Quiche Lorraine, Shepherd's Pie (filling was slightly salty) and a host of other pastries. I found that the hot food would go very quickly but they tend to bring out some more very quickly once they see that a plate's empty.

You think that you couldn't possibly be satisfied from eating sandwiches and cakes, but it was a really great experience. My friends and I had a ball! It was a great girls day out! We ate so much that by the time we left (arrived at 1pm left around 5pm) none of us had dinner that night!

I think that $65/person is a bit steep but I don't think people should be put off by the price. It's certainly not something that I would do often, but it was definitely a worthwhile experience. Great activity for hen's day or catch up with some girlfriends!

(My WOMO image was taken when I went here...!)

Approximate cost: $65
