Excellent chips.. $6.50 and it filled me up

Was in Glenelg yesterday with friends and we really felt like some fish and chips, they wanted to go here and I didn't. Well we ended up ordering some potato fritters, fish and chips, once again wasn't impressed, worse than last time. Nothing tasted fresh, just overcooked, and basically tasteless/bland. Will definitely not be returning, not enjoyable at all. Infact, we tossed most of it out and ate elsewhere.

I had no idea that this establishment was conquered by an Asian brigade. The previous owners had the right idea with the right execution. Their batter and cooking methods were spot on.
This new lot seemed to run around efficiently but the food that came out was under cooked and very oily. We ordered the seafood basket and asked them to swap the prawns for scallops. No problems there but I don't know if I would have preferred the prawns as the scallops had no taste.
It's a shame coz I think this place was once one of the better fish and chipperies in Adelaide. Now, it's a place that I would give a miss.

I would like to stress that the food here is VERY OILY

Thanks for reviewing. This sounds like a fish and chip shop to avoid, I love crispy chips, nothing oily or soggy. Will not be going here.

Definitely one to avoid, I also found everything to be greasy/oily

Have been here a couple of times just for fish and chips, unfortunately both times I have experience greasy, oily, soggy chips, even when I ask for them to be extra crispy. I am sure that is the opposite to what I received, how can you get it wrong. This fish tasted ok, but also a bit oily. I enjoy fish and chips crisp. Service is friendly enough, they just don't seem to listen. If I return it will be for something else other than fish and chips.

Why on Earth would you return?

The bay fish shop is disappointing, especially because it's one of the few places in Glenelg that actually do fish and chips. The fish is not super fresh and the batter is gross. I've started going elsewhere!

Where do you go as I will never go here again (whilst ever its owned by the current Chinese owner)

Nice, clean fish and chip shop close to the beach and tram stop, serving your basic seafood. The taste isn't the finest, but still decent. The oil that the seafood was fried in was very clean (unlike some places where the chips looks black!). Average prices and worth a try as it's handy if your going to the beach. Friendly service.

I went to this Fish and Chip shop after reading the coments of some reviewers. It was not over the top but an everyday average Fish n Chip Shop. Good Value for money though.

Approximate cost: $15

Nice fish and chips if you are on Jetty road. Never had a problem with them and have always been satisfied with the fish and chips. The calamari is always nice and fresh never stringy.

It is no longer. Once an institution. No a smelly overpriced dive
