The Samford Pet Resort, previously Samford Boarding Kennels and Cattery was established in 1985, by Garth and Karen De Bruin and now by Director Blake De Bruin their son whose aim it is to provide the very best home-away from-home for Brisbane's dog and cat population.

The facility was established after many years of showing, breeding and obedience training of Samoyeds, Newfoundlands and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Garth and Karen saw a need for a Professional Pet Resort to provide facilities above and beyond the normal offering.

Blake, Garth and Karen combined boast over 70 year’s direct experience in the industry, so you can be assured that your pets are well cared for and in professional hands.

So, the Samford Pet Resort is set on 40 picturesque acres overlooking the Samford Valley (just 21km from Brisbane's CBD) they set out to create the unique Samford Pet Resort.

We have the first five star Dog Boutique Suites & Luxury Suites for Cats. Facilities include:

  • Fully air-conditioned private rooms - Cool comfort for your special friend.
  • TV or radio - Keep them entertained for hours.
  • 2 Playtimes per day - Includes lots of cuddles and their favorite games.
  • An a la carte menu - Custom designed to tempt even the fussiest of eaters.
  • Comfy furniture to doze on - Choose from beds, chairs and pillows.
  • Individual Garden Atrium for cats staying in Villa's.
  • Out side toilet breaks for dogs.
  • Lots of human company.


With Blake De Bruin (Director) bringing new concepts and ideas in management and IT has seen the Business win The Quest Business Achiever Awards for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and becoming a Quest Hall Of Fame winner plus for 2007, 2008, 2009 has won the PIA (Pet Industry Association) Dogs Life Magazine Best Boarding Facility in Australia.

Most recently in Oct 2009 Garth & Karen De Bruin set out to expand their resorts to the beautiful Redcliffe Peninsula opening the Northshore Pet Resort which is now Directed by their daughter and son in-law Kylie & Colin Mackay.

I have taken my dog to a few kennels but this one is by far the best. The staff really love to see her and she seems to even love going there which means they must really look after her well. It does cost a little more than other kennels but you pay for what you get and when it comes to my dog- Price doesnt matter!

One of the things I love about this service is that they offer a free pick-up and drop-off service to my local vet at Carindale. I've only actually been up there once to check it out and ...wow. I'd rather stay there than some of the places I stay at for business. Lovely big open country area, air conditioned, individual play time every day. I'm sure my dog doesn't want to come home!

We wouldn't take our cats anywhere else. It s a bit outside town, for sure, but they're really clean and service (checking in and out) is super-efficient. Use the luxury cat villas, the cats even get a TV in the room. All the attendants seem very experienced and are good at handling animals.

We have had our dog out to Samford Pet resort several times and are very happy with the experience. They will pick him up from our vet in Bulimba and bring him back again. He always looks healthy happy and fresh and clean.

Have used Samford Pet Resort for many years with all our pets and so has the rest of our family. They are a wonderful local business and we have always had nothing but the best from them. All of our pets love staying with them and we believe that the dogs don't want to come home. Have met the staff locally in Samford as well and they have always been nothing but friendly. I would recommend them to every one if you want that piece of mind when your on holidays.

My two dogs visit the Samford Pet Resort on a regular basis and we have nothing but great things to report. The staff care for the pets if they were their own and I always know my dogs had a great time because the sleep the whole trip home! It's great to see my dogs get so excited on arrival and that the staff remember their names. Love your work guys!

Our Dog Doogal absolutely loves the Samford Pet Resort, every holiday we have he has one too !... He knows when he is back and runs to get into the place !!... Makes me feel so much better leaving some where I know he always enjoys and he is safe... the team seem to love him also !! ...

My dog has had a wonderful stay. The staff were wonderful and didn't mind when I called to check on her half way through.

When we came to pick her up I truly believe she didn't want to leave.

She looked amazing and was very happy.

We will be going back when we next go on holiday.

The staff were friendly and listened to what we had to say about our dog Jack. As he is old we needed to know that he would be well looked after. We left him for three weeks. When we picked him up he was happy to see us and he looked great his coat was in good condition and he seemed relaxed with his handler.

We had to put our cat into this kennel on short notice and he got the very best of care, his own area by himself, the works, infact he got a better holiday then we did, they offer a very personalized service and if you have a fussy pet this place is a must
