Have been with SGIC for motor insurance for 10 years and have always been happy with price and customer service. Recently, trying to get a quote for another car, it's gone downhill. The online quotation service doesn't work (and according to the operators they know about it ... which makes me suspicious as Youi also 'forces' you to speak by phone). On both recent occasions I've rung SGIC I have had difficulty understanding the foreign accents of the operators (apart from the word 'prefect' which is repeated every 2 seconds) and the quotes, when they've finally been calculated have not been the cheapest despite my 10 yrs loyalty and no claims bonus.
I've ended up switching to AAMI - they had an easy online service and the cheapest/easiest to understand quote - approx $165 for third party insurance for a year. Youi were almost $200 and SGIC $180

I have had car insurance with SGIC for years. However, I just got my latest renewal letter and my premium has increased 25% this year. Yes - 25%! I am furious. Nothing has changed with my car or circumstances - no accidents, no claims etc. They cannot give me a reason why it has increased 25%. My income sure hasn't increased 25%! They have now lost a customer as I will be changing insurers. Thanks SGIC!

I have used SGIC Insurance for several years now. They are professional, prompt, competitively priced (for motor insurance), and provide excellent customer service. I sold my car and rang to cancel my policy. Staff member was professional, helpful and friendly and I ended the call with a smile on my face. Always a positive experience.
