They have great tours here especially for halloween. Plenty of detailed information about the prison on the tour and a historical feel to the place. Great for educational purposes and to learn about local heritage

I have been here a few times over the years and everytime I go it is still exciting and informative. the guided tours are very good and you learn quite a lot about the prison and the stories behind the cells, ex prisoners and the overall jail. The night tour is good but a little overrated as the attempts at scaring you are actually a little funny, though still quite fun. overall definitely somewhere I have and will continue to go back to.

An excellent tourist attraction.

The prison is basically intact - the way it was right up until its closing date in 1991.

The tour guides are knowledgeable and lead a very informative tour.

There are some excellent displays around the entrance and make sure that you check out the terraces outside the prison walls

Approximate cost: $20

We did the night your of the prison late last year and it was ok but nothing great. The tour guide tried to be funny and make jokes which didn't work and there was minimal scare factor. We were disappointed as we expected to get a history of the prison rather than a substandard comedy act. We were disappointed.

Approximate cost: $30,00

I went there with my brother and his girlfriend at night
Best time to go I recon to get more of the creepy atmosphere
They do things to try and scare you as well
And some of the girls on the tour were looking pretty scared by the end of it
I took my video camera and it kept turning of which was weird and there was no reason for it to turn of

We went with some friends for the Halloween night tour and it was a lot of fun - it wasn't scary spooky but more scary geeky - they had people jumping out of coffins, dressed up and walking up on you that kind of stuff. Made us all laugh and overall was an enjoyable night

I had the small tour through history and I thoroughly enjoyed the thrill the guy gave us showing us around. Lots of laughter in such a dark place.

A very interesting experience. A very well and beautifully restored historic monument and friendly service.

I have visited the Freo Prison before in 2007 and it made me feel very incomfortable. There was an air of fear, terror, anguish and foreboding around this place, especially at the gallows, and while visiting Fremantle this time I decided to wait outside while my husband went on the Tour. He enjoyed it immensely. He enjoyed the commentary and took many photos. This tour is a must for anyone who likes the macabre. I must add that I would love to do a night tour sometime!

We did this tour four years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it then but I think this time the whole tour and commentary was even better. This time the guide was Peter and I feel his attention to detail was better, his description of the conditions back then was chilling, his relation of some of the prisoners conniving antics and schemes was comical and his rendition of the punishment and discipline handed down to the prisoners was horrendously brutal. The cramped, unhygienic and downright degrading conditions experienced by the prisoners of the day is a far cry from the hotel like establishments the prisoners have to put up with today.
