When I was growing up, my father was one of San Francisco's leading dentists, so in looking for a dentist in Melbourne my expectations were high: beautiful work, zero pain and plenty of information. After a few disappointing early experiences with some very high-profile dentists here, my husband and I have now been patients of Alistair Steel's for about eight years, and I'm so grateful we found him. Thanks to him and his hygienists, my teeth and gums have never been in better shape. (And I had had some periodontal disease while living overseas some years ago -- now, thankfully, a thing of the past.)

When I had a problem with a wisdom tooth, I was impressed by the way Dr. Steel explained the options and costs clearly, to help me make an informed decision...without any pressure.

The atmosphere is pleasant, friendly and professional. And -- since I plan to keep my teeth for the rest of my life -- I consider it good value for money.

I've been a patient of Dr Geeta Perks at Dental Health Care Associates for the last two and half years and can't recommend her enough. As a child I was extremely nervous about visiting dentists which resulted in the health of my teeth and gums deteriorating. However, since visiting Dr Perks along with my hygienist Neill Cullen my dental health has improved dramatically. Their extremely sympathetic and understanding approach has enabled me to overcome the apprehensions about visiting the dentist and I now routinely arrange check-up and hygienist treatments, with both Geeta and Neill. The proactive approach taken by Geeta in my dental health ensure potential problems with my teeth or gums are identified early so I can get the appropriate treatment.

Geeta and Neill are both very friendly and take every care to ensure they provide the highest level of care possible with minimal discomfort. Highly recommended!

The dentists here don't do cleans and I felt extremely disappointed by the visit.
I booked the dentist and specifically stated that I wanted a clean, but they neglected to tell me that the dentist won't do cleans until I was in the chair, and I was still charged $110 anyway! The dentist spent a large part of the 20 min appointment just quoting me all sorts of figures for their whitening ($1000), night guards, and their hygienist who charges $230 for cleaning under a separate appointment. I had never come across a dentist that doesn't do cleans as part of a standard checkup, let alone without informing the patient beforehand!
After calling them about it, they finally offered a barely discounted price for the hygienist of $190... I wasn't happy and ended up getting the clean done for free elsewhere in the city.
Not going back - there are plenty of fantastic dentists elsewhere in Melbourne.

Alistair and Neill and their team take great care of me, with NO PAIN and I'm confident they're the team to help me keep my teeth for life! If you're looking for a dental practice you can trust to keep your teeth and gums in top condition and advise you on what needs to be done, without over servicing, this is the place to go.

I love my dentists. (Not a phrase you hear often! But these guys give excellent service.) I've been impressed since day one when they paid real attention to my dental history and planned long consultations to give me resting breaks on account of a long term jaw problem. I've got absolutely no hesitation in recommending them. It's not cheap, but you are *not* being ripped off for what you get.
