Waited for 4 minutes to order a coffee and cake at the counter today. Three staff all chatting and avoiding eye contact with me. Not one asked if I wanted to order anything. Would be okay if the cafe was busy but only one person sitting down and already served. One other person waiting for their order. They would have known I hadn't been served. Ended up walking out and spent my $50 at another cafe! The coffee and cakes are good but don't go here if you want good service.

Barrett's Bread is an awesome little bakery. I'm always spoilt for choice whenever I come here - everything looks so delicious and I just want to eat everything! The food tastes as great as it looks - perfect place to come to grab a coffee and afternoon snack. The staff are friendly and approachable. This bakery is full of wonderfully baked goods that's bound to brighten anybody's day :)

This place has dropped the standards set by the original owners. But still manages to provide great value lunch's and baked goods. The cafe could do with a face lift as it looks a little tired.
Staff are friendly and well managed, some of the faces have been there since it's inception.
This place used to be famous for it's amazing crust and slow fermented breads, as well a there amazing all butter pastries. Sadly the crusts look like they've been pushed and something seems to be missing.
But overall the place is of good quality, and as good as Perth has to offer.

Approximate cost: $5

This was a pretty regular lunch destination while I was at UWA. Students take note: The filled rolls here are big, crusty, very generous and very fresh, and they cost around the same amount or less ($6-$8) than a plate of scungy bain-marie food from the Reid Cafe or the Ref. This is not to say their food would only impress students. Everything I've eaten from here has been absolutely top quality. As well as the rolls I would especially recommend the rosemary flatbread, and for sweets, the plain croissants or the choc-orange brioche. My only quibble would be that what they call (and price as) a "full size baguette", to any self-respecting baker or French person is most definitely a demi baguette (go to Chez Jean-Claude for a proper baguette).

All breads are always fresh and tasty, as they bake fresh everyday. This is the best bakery close to UWA. They have a varieties of breads to choose at very good price.

The aroma of freshly baked bread is something to live for at Barrett's Bread. This bakery also offers freshly baked croissants, brioche, fruit danishes, fruit filled muffins and tarts. Seasonal cakes, slices and biscuits are available. Savory items such as quiches, sausage rolls, beef pies, filled paninis and baguettes are great lunch items.
