We enquired by phone speaking to Simon regarding our 4 ½ year old son and the benefits of Judo. Simon was very professional and enthusiastic to answer our queries and offer for us to come and try.
Our first session was a very inclusive experience, our son was welcomed warmly and immediately wanted to participate.
Due care was taken for our son to be shown the exercises, being given a partner with observation and instructions provided by Simon.
Simon had all the children participating with huge smiles and laughter, enjoying their roles and engaging in playful Judo lesson.
Our only feedback would be, to maybe spend a little time with new kids & parents prior to the lesson to explain a little about Judo and the importance/relevance of some of the key Judo action undertaken at the beginning and end of the class. Also, with new children, have a demonstration of key activities which include them so that they can really understand the movements required to participate correctly.
Our son is looking forward to more classes, even though it does not seem to him like he is learning anything at this stage, just playing with other kids and having fun.
Overall as an initial introduction to Judo and local activity for children 4-6years old, I highly recommend contacting Simon and giving Aspire Judo a try.

Our 6 year old son joined Aspire 12 months ago and has enjoyed every class, we never have had him not want to go. The reason we chose Aspire was based on 2 main reasons, after being involved in the Martial Arts in one form or another for over 30 years I believe that Judo gives a base to grow from, secondly after speaking to Simon on the phone I was impressed with the way he approaches the training of kids, only once a week for the young ones, no pressure to grade and no "churn and burn" attitude. The club itself has the friendly feeling of a club not a business, no ongoing membership contracts, very approachable instructors, friendly parents. It's great, come along and have a try.

My 2 children 7yrs (boy) and 10 yrs (girl) joined this club this year and are thoroughly enjoying it. They look forward to it each week. Simon and the other coaching staff are wonderful. They are great with the kids. Children are taught good values such as respect and consideration whilst learning a sport with useful techniques in a fun, friendly and enjoyable environment.

Simon has taught my 2 children judo for the past 4 years. They were one of his first students. They enjoy attending each week and if we can make it, we try and get there for the Thursday night class as well. I would recommend the club and judo to anyone for skill, fitness and fun

This Judo club has been the best thing for my 8 year son. Not only does he love the Judo environment and wouldn't miss a week especially where he gets lots of one on one tuition, but he is learning the ancient art of respect, tolerance and attentiveness. He absolutely loves being part of the Judo club and has really blossomed since starting with Aspire. Well done to Simon who has managed to lead classes of different aged children, some also very young, and still manages to keep their interest week after week.

Our family has been involved with Aspire Judo Club for over two years now. We started taking our daughter as she has some gross motor delays and could see the benefits that judo could give to her physical development. Simon at Aspire is great with the kids, he is encouraging and fun and understands how to engage kids in the activities. There are so many benefits for kids to participate in a sport like judo. Not only do they develop there balance, coordination and other physical skills, but they also develop more confidence, tolerance of others varying abilities and sportsmanship.
Now our son also plays judo and has thoroughly enjoyed participating, especially after watching on the sidelines for so long. Myself and my husband have also enjoyed judo for ourselves as assistant coaching staff and as players in our own right. For all those who see martial arts as a rough sport, judo couldn't be further from that stereotype. Judo encourages respect and care for your fellow players as if we injure each other then we have no friends to enjoy our sport with. Although there are throws and hold downs in this sport, there is no punching, kicking or hitting involved. Participants are taught how to fall correctly to avoid injury, a skill which many long term players have found to be instinctive in real life situations which have reduced and prevented injuries. If your interested in building your balance and coordination, learning a great friendly sport, competing in completion or to feel more confident in self defence situations, you should give Aspire Judo Academy a try.

My 3 children (4,7 & 9) and I have been attending judo classes with Aspire over the last 12 months. We have all found this to be a fantastic experience. Judo in itself has proven to be a great foundation activity for the kids in developing balance, co-ordination and basic core strength. Their abilities in other sports have improved as a result of this. Judo also teaches students how to fall or land which is great outside of class if the kids trip over or come of the bike.
I highly rate Simon and the support staff at Aspire as well. The kid's classes have a strong emphasis on fun and encouragement. There is also a strong focus on respect for others and working as a group which helps caters for all stages of development.
As an activity for children I am yet to find anything better. As an adult I have improved my fitness and well-being in addition to gaining a lot of confidence through the technical aspects of training. The staff and people attending are first rate which creates an environment we look forward to returning.

Thanks for the terrific feedback Paul.

It's great to hear that things are going well for you and yours.
