I visited A Perfect Drop for the first time, they served beautiful food (I ordered the porterhouse with roast potatoes - it cooked perfectly as I asked) and the staff gave me a great service; extremely knowledgable about the menu. Love the setting in an old house - little restaurant. The prices are reasonable and the portions are perfect. Satisfied :)

Would definitely recommend to others!Definite thumbs up.

When we arrived at A Perfect Drop for lunch we were the only customers there. Our waiter a rather eccentric man in a hat invited us to sit anywhere so we chose to sit on a couple of huge Chesterfield arm chairs next to a low table. What followed was an absolute feast. We left it up to the chef to send out various small dishes (for a fixed price of $65 a head). My husband left it up to our waiter (obviously a wine expert) to chose his matched wines ($25 for about 6 very generous half glasses). The food was fantastic mainly middle eastern flavors with lots of great quality fresh ingredients including king george whiting and venison, fresh herbs and vegetables (including some from their own garden) and well balanced spices. The wines were all local, and according to my husband, excellent. Our waiter was a font of knowledge and obviously very proud of what he was placing in front of us. The restaurant filled up as we were there including a family with young children and we overheard the young child being treated as an honoured guest with special child friendly dishes offered. All up it was a very special experience and highly recommended.

The food in this cosy little bar was innovative and good but the prices were very high and the serving size tiny. The cheese platter ,which we shared between 4 of us, was miniscule and cost $25. The entrees were lovely but you needed a microscope to spot them and at around $17 each, not cheap. My friend ordered the barramundi for mains and it was so small he worked out it cost about $800 per kilo ( being a mathematician). Does 3 mouthfuls comprise a serve? I don't think so.

I heard about A Perfect Drop twice in one week, so decided I had to check it out. It is a funky wine bar 5 mins walk from the main street of Daylesford. It has a rustic, comfy unpretentious feel to it. There are big lounges to relax on, walls displaying revolving art exhibitions, and fire places which are lit once the sun goes down. They are very passionate about there wines, offering many local drops- I had a glass of a local Nebblio variety ($5) and a cheese platter ($12.50)- which were both perfect in size and taste. Great to see that there is finally an alternative to pubs and expensive places in Daylesford.
