WHO I AM
Petra Robotham B.A. Hons (Psych), Dip. Ed.
Cert 4 in Fitness ,Yoga/Meditation Instructor, Pilates Instructor, Tai chi qigong Instructor.
Black belt Australian Freestyle Martial Arts.
After completing an honours degree in Psychology at Melbourne University and a Diploma of Education I became eligible for associate membership of the Australian Psychological Society. I entered into a two year research project on the effects of relaxation techniques such as massage and verbal systematic relaxation and was impressed at the profound effect such techniques could have on a persons mental and emotional well-being
I began an exploration into various mind body disciplines such as martial arts, tai chi, yoga, meditation, belly dancing, pilates, qigong, art and music as therapy. After working as a teacher of music, art and martial arts I moved to the subtler (yet profound) mind body disciplines of yoga and meditation, pilates, tai chi and qigong. I gained my teaching qualifications in yoga, pilates and martial arts in the early 2000's and began a love of teaching.
I am a very passionate teacher who loves to help people find the right tools for themselves to live a healthy and happy life. I encourage all my students to approach the classes with a "beginners mind" leaving yourself open to new discoveries. I've have found that regularly practising yoga, meditation, tai chi qigong or pilates can contribute to stress relief, relaxation, emotional and physical strength , mental focus and clarity, contentment and happiness.
Yoga
Yoga uses dynamic movements active and static postures, breathing , relaxation and concentration techniques to increase flexibility ,strength, balance and create a feeling of union between mind, body and spirit.
