My partner and I flew with Qantas to America recently as it is a well known and trusted airline. More leg room in economy than the cheaper airlines and flying straight to Los Angeles is a big incentive. The inflight entertainment is great with a range of movies and tv shows to watch, CDs and radios to listen to and games to play.
Coming back to Australia we were able to bring two suitcases back each-fantastic as we could shop all we wanted. Service at the airport and on the plane was good-friendly and attentive.

This review is for Europa Cafe, Carnegie VIC

Europa Cafe is a great addition to the Carnegie shopping strip. They make a wide selection of pastries daily with a European flair. The Danishes are huge-very filling and come with a range of toppings. One of my favourite items are the Polish doughnuts-fresh and light with a tart plum jam filling.

The staff are friendly and attentive and make the experience very welcoming.

This review is for Hunky Dory, Highett VIC

Hunky Dory has a fantastic menu selection, from fresh fish grilled or fried, thick chips, fluffy potato cakes and a range of salads. It is a bit more expensive than other fish and chip shops but the quality is better and you can go and get a healthy meal for lunch or dinner.

There are seats available inside and outside for eating or you can takeaway.

This review is for Little Tommy Tucker, Bentleigh VIC

Little Tommy Tucker is a fantastic addition to the cafés on Centre rd in Bentleigh. The service is friendly and attentive, the decor stylish and the food amazing and well priced.

One of my favourite dishes is the pesto scrambled eggs-filling and delicious! They do breakfast all day and serve a good selection of dishes that are all cooked well. As well as the menu options they have a cabinet full of sandwiches, rolls and sweets.

My favourite place to grab breakfast in Bentleigh.

Approximate cost: $12

I popped into this Cafe on my way to work at 4.30pm. They were closing at 5 so had everything packed away but the lady was alright with making me a drink. I ordered a large Chai Latte ($5.50), and got the choice between the Chai tea or Chai powder. The chai flavour was quite nice but it was very light and seemed like it was mainly foam.
I also ordered a rocky road slice and a florentine biscuit. Both of these were delicious and I would buy them again.
It is quite a small cafe but there is the option of sitting outside. They had a kids section too.

This review is for Bentleigh Charcoal Chicken, Bentleigh VIC

We buy the whole roast chickens from Bentleigh Charcoal Chicken as they are so much easier than doing it yourself and you get a succulent, juicy meal every time. We often order for big events so will buy up to 5 roast chickens and they cut them into even sized pieces and are always ready at the time they specify. The owners are very friendly.

This review is for Il Primo Posto, Southbank VIC

My partner and I dined here early on Saturday night. It wasn't too busy so the service was relatively quick. It was cold outside so we sat near the back inside but unfortunately there was a door we didn't see that kept opening-would have been nice if we were directed elsewhere. The garlic bread was tasty but perhaps overpriced at $8.50. I ordered the pasta croquettes and there wasn't much taste to them. The tomato sauce it was with was very fresh and nice but the croquettes were boring and tasted a bit burnt. My partner had the lamb shanks and said they were delicious. As an Italian restaurant on Southbank I think they need to pick up there game a bit to bring back customers.

I only ever order chips, potato cakes and pineapple fritters so am unable to comment on the seafood, but what I order is really good for the price. The chips are thick cut and not oily and they always thrown in an extra potato cake. The pineapple fritters are so good and not too much batter is on it.

This review is for Bentleigh RSL, Bentleigh VIC

Bentleigh RSL has always offered great food at good prices since they re-did the layout. A new menu has really made it a lot fancier so it matches the nice decor. For dinner it is best to book as it is a very popular place in the area. They do great chicken parmas and always offer great specials. The staff clearly enjoy working thre and are happy that you are there too.

This review is for Creme Lounge, Altona VIC

verified email - 22 Aug 2013

I keep coming back to Creme in Altona but I'm not quite sure why. The service has never been great-the waiters seem to chat to each other a lot and are hardly busy, and you have to get your own water (a bit odd for a cafe now). The food is alright but nothing amazing. The chai lattes are ok but I won't be re-ordering. My favourite thing is the bread shop at the back of the shop as they sell super fresh bread and cute little pastries. Could definitely go for some new menu items that are better cooked and more enthusiastic staff.
