This review is for Scion-Tumby Bay Skills Centre, Tumby Bay SA

verified email - 19 Sep 2014

The Tumby Bay Skills Centre is just outside the CBD area just opposite the school. Inside are a variety of products made from locally grown and produced olives which are mostly manufactured by the students from the school. There are also articles of art, hand made crafts, creams, lotions, jams and preserves all made from local ingredients by the students and local enterprises. A good place to browse and have a look at loads of paraphernalia produced by local personnel. Give it a look when in Tumby.

This review is for Koppio Smithy Museum, Port Lincoln SA

verified email - 19 Sep 2014

The Koppio Smithy Museum is situated in the picturesque hills country and a 30 minute drive from Port Lincoln, Tumby Bay and Cummins. The grounds, although smaller than some of the other historical villages, are well kept and well maintained. There are a number of huts, cottages and businesses from yesteryear all well presented and maintained. The exhibits, although rather old are clean, bright and well arranged. This site boasts of probably the smallest bank and the smallest post office in size, not much bigger that a modern toilet. We spent well over 2 hours looking around and in particular the exhibit of the Black Tuesday bush fires of January 11th 2005 which shows the events and aftermath which ravaged the area. A truly inspiring museum and well worth a look.

This review is for Tumby Villas, Tumby Bay SA

The Tumby Villas are only two years old and are modern, spacious and well laid out. The seven villas are very comfortable, bright and roomy. Most modern amenities are available and easily accessed. They are akin to a small house. We stayed here for seven days and could have quite easily stayed longer, if the money held out. We were fortunate to be shown through the motel rooms in the same complex and these were just as comfortable. We will definitely be returning to either mode.

This review is for Dominos Pizza, Southport QLD

verified email - 23 Sep 2013

We were staying in Southport for 7 days recently and were looking for a nearby pizza place for delivery. On 'phoning reception at the Earls Court Motor inn where we were staying a number of pizza places were mentioned but the reception lady told us that she regularly gets Dominos. We 'phoned in our order and with in about 20 minutes the pizzas were delivered. They were hot, the filling was plentiful and there were no complaints what so ever. We enjoyed them so much that we ordered some more the following night. This was and entirely different encounter than another review I read of a similar pizza place from a nearby area. Well done Dominos Pizzas in Southport, we will definitely be using you next time we are in Southport.

This review is for Exotic Filled Candy & Licorice, Carrara QLD

verified email - 23 Sep 2013

We came across this stand at the Carrara Markets and even though we have seen them or something similar in other places, this stand caught my eye. On display were long lengths of colourful sweets. It was not until I got closer when I realised that most of it was coated licorice. Some were sweet and some were sour in a range of about 40 flavours. The chap behind the counter was really friendly and chatted with us for quite some time and gave us a few tastes. The sour flavours were just enough to suck the cheeks in a bit with out being too over bearing, the sweet ones were, well, just sweet but for one who likes sweet stuff, is great. They also stocked the standard black licorice in various styles. Good far a visit and a taste. The price was quite reasonable as well.

This review is for Skypoint Observation Deck, Surfers Paradise QLD

verified email - 21 Sep 2013

What a breathtaking experience, what an awesome view. The Skypoint Observation Deck is a frightening 230 meters from street level and is 77 levels high. One of the fastest lifts in the world catapults you up to the 77th level in just 43 seconds and you hardly feel a thing. My wife has a great fear of heights and was still shaking about ten minutes after reaching the top but she soon settled down to enjoy the 360 degree, uninterrupted view of the Gold Coast and Hinterland and other surroundings. Whilst at the top one can partake in a meal or just a leisurely coffee while relaxing and taking in the outstanding view. Around the edges of the deck on the floor you will see the direction and the distances of some well known destinations, for example Tokyo, Vancouver and the South Pole to mention a few. You will actually feel more when taking off and landing in an aeroplane than you will being sky-rocketed up the centre of the Q1 building to the Skypoint Observation Deck. A truly unforgettable experience, a breathtaking view and a heart-stopping and awesome sensation being at the highest point of the Gold Coast. Don't miss it.

This review is for Pancakes In Paradise, Surfers Paradise QLD

verified email - 21 Sep 2013

On entering these premises I took note of the abundance of timber used in the surroundings, balustrades, wall panelling, tables and chairs and several booths some of which had an overhead canopy resembling hot air balloons which made it a very impressive environment. The menu consisted of an array of crepes, pancakes and other selections. A couple in our party had the all day breakfast, I had the cheese, bacon and potato pancake whilst my wife had the wedges all serves were more than ample and were most tasty. There was a good selection of beverages to wash it all down. To finish off we had five smaller pancakes with jam, cream and maple syrup...superb???. The staff were very friendly, obliging, helpful and quite talkative. And in accordance with their hot air balloon theme their motto is "Light as Air" very appropriate. If you happen to be in Surfers Paradise, make sure you take a look at this place. You won't be disappointed.

This review is for Wyndham Cruises, Surfers Paradise QLD

verified email - 21 Sep 2013

The Wyndham Cruise leaves it's mooring at the river end of Cavlll Street at 12 noon and is a 2 hour trip. It cruises the Nerang River, passing Paradise Island and Isle of Capri, then continues on past Chevron Island making it's way past Sea World. On the way back it passes a marina, Mariners Cove, Main Beach, Paradise Waters and back to it's mooring position. During the cruise we were treated to a scrumptious buffet lunch consisting of prawns, chicken, salad, fresh bread and a selection of seasonal fruits, all of this whilst enjoying a comprehensive commentary, which was at times hard to hear, of the local area. It had extensive bar facilities to wash down all those goodies. What a way to spend a leisurely 2 hours, good food, good wine, good company, great scenery great weather --- what more could you want. Well worth taking a look.

This review is for Earl's Court Motor Inn, Southport QLD

verified email - 21 Sep 2013

Earls Court Motor Inn situated along busy Nerang Street, Southport, is made even more congested with the construction of the tram/light rail right outside the door. Many business along the route are struggling. The Gold Coast Hospital across the road is closing at the end of this month and moving 4 kms away. Back to the accommodation, on entering the room we were confronted with a large lounge/bed area, ample room for four to six people, spacious clean and very comfortable. There were two other bedrooms, one with 2 single beds and the other with a double bed. Very adequate kitchen facilities, shower, toilet and also a laundry. Outside an excellent barbecue and pool area, and plenty of tables and chairs\lounges around the pool. This motel has not got the bells and whistles that would be the norm around the Gold Coast but it is very comfortable, spacious and clean and tidy, and not at all cluttered. Very good value for money and the hosts were exceptional, very friendly, obliging and helpful. Marlene and John looked after us very well. If you are looking for accommodation close to the Gold Coast, Broadbeach etc, this is the place to stay, there is no ocean view but when the tram/light rail service commences early in 2014, this is the place to stay. Very happy, very contented, pity we had to leave.

This review is for Hearing Life, Modbury SA

verified email - 20 Aug 2013

After my initial hearing test and a subsequent appointment at Hearing Life, Modbury, Colin proceeded to do a follow up test regarding my hearing. He determined that hearing aids for both ears would be beneficial to my situation. He explained the fitting and function of the 'aids in a professional manner and provided easy to follow instructions as to their usage and fitting. A further appointment was made to ascertain if the hearing aids were in fact making a difference. My hearing of the T.V. especially was a marked improvement - we usually have the volume set at 30 but I could hear quite clearly with the volume set at 15. Any one who has a hearing deficiency, make a trip to Modbury Hearing Life - you will not be sorry, I can assure you. Well worth the time and effort for a visit to this friendly and courteous establishment.
