Papa rich

Have eaten in this restaurant quite a few times past years, and I do like how we write our own order on paper and hand to waitress - you know if something wrong it’s either your fault or chefs. More recently have used Menulog to get food delivered. It is always same quality, tasty, spicy and delicious. Am very pleased with continual consistent quality and will order again.

This review is for Jim's Plumbing, Melbourne VIC

20 Jan 2021

Had a plumber come from Jim’s to replace a toilet as had done in past for other toilet. This time the cost was so much more than other one two years ago. Unsure why so expensive to be honest as previous toilet suit installed is all porcelain, this one is porcelain bowl and plastic cistern. It all works well and installed. There was a bit of annoyance with initial appointment he come so late in day no time to replace as it was after hours so another appointment made. Cost was hugely e pensive but we needed it done, googled toilet suites and price was no where what we paid but it’s done. Will shop around next time need some plumbing.

This review is for Flinders Village Cafe, Flinders VIC

20 Feb 2014

After a hot afternoon out thought we would pop in to Flinders Village Cafe for a coffee and cake. Two colleagues of my husband had both said the coffee there was good. So we went in, got a nice seat in the court yard and then I went in to order for the 3 of us. The line took quite a few minutes to get from door to register, even though not too long. I ordered two iced coffees and a long black as well as a slice of passion fruit sponge and lemon tart. After awhile our drinks came, it was a hot day so we started. We waited for our cake, people who were served after me got their meals and still no cake so I asked a waitress, she then went off, then nothing, so by this time we had well and truly finished our drinks and I asked again, still nothing and more meals came out. Eventually I got attention of another waitress and said, look I dont want to sound rude, but our drinks came out 35 minutes ago, we ordered cake and I've asked the other waitress twice, even people who came and ordered after us have their meals can you please check our cake? So then CAKE CAME! It was delicious. So we ordered two more coffees hubby went in to do it this time one cappuccino and one long black. Eventually I received my cappuccino. But no long black came. Then again we asked, nothing. Then a waitress came out and said one long black, yes...but she had another coffee so said oh its not yours and took it elsewhere, again people who came after us??? Another five or ten minutes and hubby's long black came. During the course of this their were waitresses coming out with food they had no idea where it belonged...was a real circus.

I will say though, the coffee was good, cake was good, iced coffee had hair in cream ontop and the circus was not necessary.

Would never consider eating there after that experience, but would go if all i wanted was coffee and had an hour or so to spare.

This review is for Richmond Seafood Tavern, Richmond VIC

24 Jul 2013

One weekday hubby and I decided to go for a indulgent lunch as both were home for the day. Went to Richmond Seafood Tavern which confusingly is in Fitzroy. We arrived a little early not sure of how parking might be. They have a really small car park that can fit maybe 6 to 10 cars. When you walk in through a small pub bar you are hit with a stale beer/pub smell which I totally can't stand, however it wasn't as bad as you entered dining area which was quite nice with white linen table settings. We were seated. The restaurant seemed very dim, lighting was a bit inadequate. There was a blackboard menu but it was hard to read and I have great eyesight just restaurant was too dark. The waiter took our orders, we shared a crab bruschetta and it was delicious. So fresh, light and tasty - we both enjoyed. Then for main i had the Morton bay bugs. They were absolutely delicious - the best I've eaten in Melbourne. The group on the table next to us had a different waiter and she seemed more knowledgeable than our waiter, giving them options of mixed entrees or shared mains, which would have been nice to be given that option as well.
Overall the food was great, will go back for more bugs any day.

One suggestion to the venue is replace blown bulbs in rest rooms, or check to see if they are clean as there was room for improvement there.

Popped in with a friend for a coffee. Had seen this cafe and lots of good reviews so had to give it a try. The staff were very attentive, we ordered drinks and needed bit of time to look at menu. Inbetween chatting the wait staff returned and we said no rush we will call you, they were just too attentive and came back and back and back. Eventually we ordered, the wait staff were helpful in explaining a dish or two. Our order came out quickly, and all was nice and fresh, hot and tasty although my toast was a bit burnt on edges, that was my only fault with dish. The place was semi busy with a turn over of diners. The set out is a bit different, the counter is against wall so you are the same side as staff which I thought a tad different, there were no kids in there while we were but i could think that may be a problem with some inquisitive kids - no barrier to keep them out of baristas area. Prices were reasonable and i look forward to another visit.

This review is for Cheshire Cafe, Preston VIC

You know when you find a great cafe and then think when can we go again...well Cheshire is that place. My hubby has recently had shorter working weeks and we decided to go to a cafe on the way to city. I had heard there was one down near the Tram end of line on Gilbert Rd so off we went. It was a week day and after 9am, parking was not too hard to get as there is a side street next to cafe. We were lucky there were a few tables free inside. Indoors the cafe is quirky, and there is also seating out front and to the side on street. We ordered, coffee came first - yum a great cappuccino, can tell the barista had experience, the meals came. We both enjoyed, I had avocado smash with feta, tomato on crispy toast - was yum. Hubby had a salmon omelette which he tucked into and thoroughly enjoyed too. The place started to get quite busy a few mums with kids so it got a bit noisey, but they all sat on the large communal type table. We went again a week later and tried different menu items, all was again great although it was already busy inside so we were seated out front, wish I had grabbed sunnies. The waitress asked if we wanted to be seated inside if table became available and I said yes please, and as soon as one was she promptly came and told us and moved our coffees in. Can't wait for hubby's next short week to go again. Prices were reasonable and quality really good.

This review is for TGI Friday's, Epping VIC

13 Jul 2013

Been here a few times, with hubby and son and last time in group of 10. They don't like taking bookings unless you are large group so you could have to wait for table...they do say you can sit at the bar, but I don't think that's appropriate when you have children with you. The menu has a variety of dishes nothing really sounded too healthy. Drinks are expensive, although some soft drinks are bottomless, so that's good if you have thirsty kids. The veggies if you order a steak are pre-cut frozen, and the mashed potato full of cheese. Don't be expecting a cheap night out, but its quirky decor and amusing birthday singing from wait staff is worth seeing. I wouldn't say rush out to visit, but wouldn't not recommend TGI's either.

Fun family venue. Great place for kids of all ages, you will have a great time trying to find your way in and out of the many various mazes. Some areas may be a bit difficult for anyone with mobility problems as some areas are a bit steep, but there is a great area to purchase food and relax while the kids go try find the hidden gnomes. Lots of great gardens to enjoy as well.

This review is for Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm, Main Ridge VIC

13 Jul 2013

If you love fresh strawberries you MUST visit Sunny Ridge. We have been a couple of times now and enjoyed every time. If you go during Xmas holidays be ready to wait and wait and wait to try and pounce on a table as it vacates. Then be prepared to wait and wait for it to be cleared from previous patrons, it all just tends to pile up and everyone just try's to eat around it. So when you win lotto, I mean get a table you send in someone to line up and order. This can take awhile, I stood in line for 30 minutes once waiting to order...but when your order finally comes, those super large fresh juicy strawberries and chocolate fondu (my favorite) the wait is well worth it. There are quite a few menu items from parfait to Devonshire tea, I hear the waffles which are not served all day unfortunately are really really good, but I will have to try them next time. The place closes from what I've read at times out of season, but I'm hoping to visit next time not in a peak time. There is opportunity to pick your own strawberries and pay for what you pick and the store has quite a variety of gourmet products and pre-picked berries and some veggies for you to choose from as well.

This review is for Mornington Peninsula Chocolates, Flinders VIC

13 Jul 2013

A must visit for any chocolate lover. An amazing selection of fine hand made chocolates. The store is not big and there is a view of the kitchen prep area which you might be lucky enough to see them making some yummy treats. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We choose a selection of chocolates, I stuck to more traditional flavours as I've been disappointed with some non-traditional flavours from other stores before. My favorite was salted caramel, I wish I bought a ton more. The chocolates are pricey, so don't expect to get much for your buck...but what you do get savor the flavours - YUM! Will definitely return with wad of cash next time and just get a box of the salted caramel...was hubby's favorite too.
