I just love this little Club. It is very casual - the staff are great and there is a balcony that overlooks the bay where you can have your meal.
The food is great and the servings are huge and reasonably priced.

No tab - but that doesn't really matter.

If you go to Shoal Bay you just have to go here. Meals range in price from $17 to $25.

We went as a couple a few weeks ago for the weekend. Luckily I was able to purchase a voucher which saved us a little money and then we upgraded to get a beachview apartment. I was stunned that a four and a half star hotel had really dirty cream carpets in need of a good steam clean - the drapes were dirty and needed cleaning also. But the balcony - always essential where ever I stay was covered in cobwebs and the tiles on the floor were covered in grit and sand. The two person spa would comfortably fit two very small people - that was also disappointing.

The highlight of this hotel is the location and the views. You just can't beat that. The price is however too expensive for the rooms.

Look around you may find somewhere better. Also book early - everything gets full very quickly over the weekends in the warmer weather.

Approximate cost: $210 per night

I went to Bedsonline to purchase an electric bed for my uncle who has Parkinsons Disease. The staff were very helpful and knowledgable and let me try out the beds for ages.

They also negotiated a great deal for us and would highly recommend them to anyone.

We went here for lunch on Good Friday so we were obviously always going to order fish. The pub itself is much nicer inside that I imagined and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The meal was very nice - we both had beer battered flathead fillets. I did look at the entire menu and I was impressed - it was interesting and exciting.

Will definitely go back there for a meal when in the area.

Three of us went there for lunch last Saturday. I must admit I was pretty dubious about going to this hotel and when I got there I was pleasantly surprised.
Although the outside is a little dated - the interior has been refurbished and the steaks were out of this world.

We ordered the prime rib $28 which came with chips and salad and we also received complimentary garlic bread.

The steak was so tender it was like cutting through butter and so tasty. The guys working in the kitchen were very pleasant and helpful.

Schooners were also only $3.60 which is a bargain.
Its not fine dining but the food is fantastic.

We often go to the Royal for lunch as it is convenient to take my uncle who has Parkinson's Disease and access, parking and meals are all very good for us to take him there.

Every meal we have had has been very nice and their desserts are delicious. The atmosphere inside is nice and everything is clean and comfortable.

Would highly recommend this place.

Five of us went there for lunch last Sunday and it was so disappointing. It is a beautiful spot but club and the bistro leaves a lot to be desired.

It was a really hot day and we had to ask to have the air conditioning put on - that was the first bad thing. The waitress in the bistro had very limited English which was really frustrating - I asked her if the garlic prawns were in a creamy sauce and she said yes. I ordered them and they came out in a garlic oil - yuck.

Everyone else's meal was pretty sub-standard and I also ordered two bread rolls and asked for butter and the waitress said she would bring it out and that never happened either.

Overall a really disappointing experience.
Tip - they need new caterers.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel recently on a Groupon deal which was $229 for two nights with breakfast included, a bottle of wine and two free standard drinks in the pub downstairs.

Although the hotel itself if really dated - like the old Travelodge from the 70's - we found the room to be very clean and comfortable and it had a huge double spa in the main room which was great. You could spa and watch TV at the same time.

The location of the hotel is its greatest asset with the beautiful views of the bay (this is only for the guests on the upper floors - which we were). The bowling club is across the road and there is a pub downstairs which both have good reasonably priced food.

The breakfast buffet which was included was plentiful but of average quality.

All in all we had a great time and I would stay there again. Particularly after their refurbishments.

This place has only been open for eight weeks and it is really impressive. I have been there twice for lunch and the food is fantastic as was the service and the atmosphere. The only little thing I didn't like were the chairs - really uncomfortable.

We went there for lunch last Sunday and shared an entrée - seared scallops with pureed cauliflower and an avocado brulee - so yummy and the presentation was lovely.

Had veal medallions with creamy mushroom sauce for the main - to die for. Couldn't fit dessert in.

Everyone you have to try it. It's one of the nicest places to eat in the area.

Called in there for a couple of drinks before the footy last week. What a downer of a place. The beer I ordered was warm and it just had a run down non inviting atmosphere.
