This review is for Mr.Quick Fix, Reservoir VIC

verified email - 16 Aug 2018

This gentleman was assigned to fix a cupboard door for us by our real estate, and I'm disappointed to say my experience has been quite the opposite.

He was given the job on a Tuesday, and I was given his number and told he would call me. I had not heard anything from him by Wednesday afternoon so I called him. He first denied having recieved the job and had no knowledge of it, then said he left it on his printer at home, I asked him to contact me to organise a time to attend or to contact my partner and he agreed and asked me to send through my details to his phone, which I did and he would contact me on the Thursday.

Thursday lunchtime rolls around and my partner has still not had a phone call. I called him and asked what his plans were and he first denied having our contact details which i rebutted and said I'd sent them through as he had requested. Then he said he would be a few hours but refused to give a time window. I said this would not work as we have two small children and he needed to organise a time to attend. He said he would call my partner.

He called my partner and said he would be a few hours, my partner told him the same as I had, that we have two small children and he would be arriving during their nap and this would be innapropriate, would he please come tomorrow (friday) morning and give a time window. He refused to provide a time window and said he'd be there through out the day and my partner again said this isnt appropriate, please give us a time you will be here.

It is at this point that the gentleman became aggressive and refused to give a time window. So my partner asked him not to come at all and we have asked our real estate to organise an alternative tradesman.

It is unprofessional in this day and age to not be able to provide a window of time you will be attending to a job. And it is not unreasonable to expect that tradesmen will work within a set of bounds acceptable to their customers. Gone are the days of waiting all day for a tradesman to turn up.

We came here on our first childfree dinner out in a year. I had never heard of it before, despite living in the area for 3 years. The menu is supposed to be a roadtrip through europe, and they do a sensational job of this theme.

The restaurant layout is small, with some low tables and some high tables and some seating along the bar. The kitchen is partly in the restaurant and you can see the chefs cooking and finishing up the food. The waitstaff are dressed like traditional french waiters in white and black and they are very attentive, friendly and concerned you are enjoying your meal. They are very knowledgeable about the food too.

The Bread is served with Swhvartz, a southern german butter like mixture of rendered fat, crackling and herbs. Much like dripping but classier.

The menu is simple, each section has about 4 to 6 dishes, organised by origin. The chef has taken traditional dishes and reimagined them adding some lovely additions. We had the Duck Confit Cassoulet and the Beef Short Rib with Red Cabbage and Potato Latkes. The portions are good for large size meals.

We also sampled the dessert menu with a delicious Creme Brulee and a whiskey Aperetif.

For the quality of the food and portion size we were pleasantly surprised with our bill. Paying 120.00 for two larger mains, drinks and dessert.

Will definitely be returning soon!

This review is for Marroo Korean Charcoal Bbq & Bar, Melbourne VIC

I'm not sure I would recommend Marroo anymore, I took a group of 8 here for the Banquet menu and the value for 40 per head is not that great. They only brought one serving of Scotch Fillet and Pork Belly, when we said this was not enough they told us we needed to order extra, to which we argued no, we are paying 40 per head, you bring enough of each type of meat on the banquet menu.

Unfortunately even after 40 dollars, and all the sides, and the fact that we had to keep asking them to top up our sides and bring more because they largely ignored us and stood around talking in the corner we left still hungry.

There is no desserts menu, I'm sorry but I expect to be able to order either Matcha, Black Sesame or Red Bean ice cream at a Korean BBQ place.

Also, the ventilation has deteriorated, by 8pm the place was full but also full of smoke, our vent actually started spewing smoke from another table onto us. I noticed that they had to keep the front door ajar to let out the excess smoke.

The Banquet menu is bulked out by chicken and pork and is very lean on scotch fillet, pork belly and Beef brisket or Bulgogi. It could do with some Ox Tongue. Also the "Seafood Hot Pot" that comes with it contains one piece of each type of seafood in a small one person bowl. Hardly enough for a group of 8. At other Korean BBQ places I have been to, a seafood hotpot is literally a hotpot, set up on a separate burner.

I was really disappointed and wont be returning.

This review is for Men That Move, Melbourne VIC

verified email - 01 Aug 2016

I've used the Ecomove boxes before (twice) and they are great, this time I decided to use the Men that move removalist service so that the boxes would be free. We hired 100 boxes and they were delivered promptly, although I was a bit disappointed that I had to order packing paper separately as previously I had ordered a moving value pack. But the team were super nice about it and the driver delivered packing paper to me that next day. 5kg plus two extra he had for free!

The day of the move I'd hired a 50m3 truck with 3 guys. They rang ahead to let me know they'd be a bit late. They turned up when they said they would and all introduced themselves and then proceeded to move all my stuff onto their truck. They had all the right equipment and asked questions when they needed to but aside from that got on with the job. They worked hard and got the move done in 6 hours (it was a big move). When unloading they were happy to move things where we asked them to and tried to move into things into the same room they came from. Nothing was broken and they were consumate professionals.

I was so happy with with their service I will definitely use them again in the future.

This shop has popped up in Elizabeth st recently, and is close enough to the Vic Market to be an alternative if you've had your fill of Market food offerings. We love Korean Fried Chicken and have lamented always that the nearby ABC Fried Chicken isnt open for lunch.

We came on a Sunday, it was pretty empty, but they serve Beer on tap and have a good selection of korean Beers. We had a half and half large plate of Bulgogi and Green onion fried Chicken. With a serve of chips. it cost us nearly 38 with a beer and another drink. The bulgogi chicken was not to my taste, a little sweet. But I would like to try the lemon next time.

The service is prompt and friendly, and the decor is warm and welcoming. The cartoons on the wall are cute. They have Chopsticks forks and spoons and gloves for you to use. There is a little bin on each table for the bones. It is well thought out.

The only bad things i could say is that is isnt easy to get to the bathroom, you need a staff member to open it for you. Also there are no high chairs. But we will come back. For sure.

We were looking for a different type of lunch to a normal cafe so came here after checking reviews. It is not in the main area of Seddon but definitely worth checking out. So many beautiful classic cars and the whole place has a car theme. We sat at the big car table and the little one really loved it. They have a kids menu and some lovely lunch options. I had a Reuben sandwich which was delicious, my partner had a pulled pork burger he was very happy with and our daughter had a slider.

Would definitely come again.

This review is for Aangan Indian Restaurant, West Footscray VIC

verified email - 16 Mar 2016

There are A LOT of Indian Restaurants in Barkly St West Footscray but this has to be one of the best. Their speciality Tandoor food its always fresh, not too sweet and delicious. I have been here to eat several times, brought family and friends and ordered home delivery a lot. I have yet to be disappointed. The only thing i wish is that they would open the beer garden earlier than 7:30pm. Last time we went it was a warm night and we really wanted to eat out there but was told it was too early. Having a small child means we can not wait to eat too late so we had to eat inside.

We regularly order takeaway and have eaten in a few times as well. We find it a good place to take our vegetarian friends for lunch. The Biryani's are delicious especially the goat. The Dosas are very cheap and crispy and tasty. I dont think much of the Indo Chinese food but between Dosa and Biryani these guys have got it good. I tried the Idly tonight but I'm not much a fan. I will usually stick with plain dosa, Paneer Dosa and Chicken Dosa.

I used to come here quite a bit because it was a great kebab house, they are turkish and the on the Salami and Egg Pide it is actually Sucuk (beef, turkish salami) and they have Ayran in the fridget.

I came here for the first time in a while on thursday night though and ordered my usual kebab and it did not taste right. One of the sauces was not present but I had been charged for it. And all the sauce and meat was at one end of the kebab.

I hope this was just a freak occurence because I would hate to think they have dropped their game. Usually I like the food here and the staff are always very friendly. They have eftpos with no limits just a 50c surcharge. And the Eftpos is paywave enabled. These things are important to me as I seldom carry money in my wallet.
