This review is for M.J. Harris Painting, Ivanhoe VIC

I chose this company to paint the exterior of our home after comparing several quotes. They weren't the cheapest but appeared to focus on the preparation of surfaces before painting which was important to us.. They seemed genuinely interested in ensuring we were happy with the job and were easy to deal with when upon inspection at the end if the job I found about 20 areas requiring touch ups. These were resolved quickly and as were some other areas id missed that were picked rup by the painters. It was at this point I would have given five stars for service. Then less than two months after completion the paint on our front verandah peeled. I messaged the owner and he promised to send a painter to fix the problem. The problem was 'fixed' by applying another layer of paint and less than two weeks later the paint lifted. Unfortunately this time My email was ignored and the matter is unresolved. I expected to get a good five years (at least!) out of the paint job and instead had flaky and lifting paint in less than three months. We will now have to sand, fill a d repaint this area ourselves. It was a disappointing outcome.
*UPDATE* Mike from MJ Harris painting contacted me and explained and apologised that my email wasn't received and arranged a time the following week to inspect and rectify the paint work. The paint work has now been meticulously repaired and it looks great. I am really impressed with the level of customer service offered and I wouldn't hesitate to have MJ Harris painting back to do future painting at my house.

This review is for Professor's Pizza, Watsonia VIC

verified email - 18 Aug 2013

Professor's competes with about five other pizza restaurants on the same street but is one of the best.
The pizza's are authentic Italian style with thin crispy bases and quality fresh ingredients.
The gourmet pizzas are worth the higher than average cost. My favourite is Tomato Base - Mozzarella Cheese, Prawns, Scallops, Mussels & garnished with Fresh Herbs, Rocket & Lemon

SEAFOOD GOURMET
Small $12.00 Medium $15.00
Large $18.00
Gluten free bases are also available and probably the best GF base I've tasted but only come in a medium size (but are charged as a large price) which is a bit steep considering gluten free pizza bases are now becoming quite common.

This review is for Kids Of Eltham, Eltham VIC

Kids of Eltham is a great children's store tucked away in a shopping mall behind Coles.
They stock a good array of quality clothes, hats, blankets/swaddles, toys and gifts for babies and children.
The toys are quality made with a good range of timber toys and educational toys.
The staff are very friendly and helpful too.

This review is for Shillinglaw Cottage Cafe & Foodstore, Eltham VIC

verified email - 18 Aug 2013

Shillinglaw is a favourite family brunch spot. When the weather is fine it is lovely to sit and relax at an outdoor table while my 4 year old can play in the sandpit under the big tree.
Inside is a cosy setup with a warm open fire.
The breakfast menu offers more variety than other local eateries and be sure to check the specials board.
My favourite breakie is the Mushroom & Thyme Stack $15.50
Char-Grilled Sour Dough topped with Sautéed Thyme Mushrooms Poached Eggs and House Hollandaise and my husband can't go past the Breakfast $18.95
Organic Sour Dough with 2 Eggs (as you like), Crispy Bacon, Chipolata, Roast Tomato, Baby Spinach, Hash Brown, Field Mushrooms & House Made Tomato Relish.
The staff are really friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
Highly recommend!

This review is for Lilies On Brougham, Eltham VIC

After laughing my way through some very descriptive negative reviews on another site curiosity got the better of me and I decided to visit to see what all the negative fuss was about.
It only took a few minutes to understand why this cafe rates so poorly. The staff are unbelievably rude. After initially being ignored we had to approach them for service. When our order was bought to our table we were abruptly told we'd have to vacate our table in 1/2 hour which was quite laughable given the cafe wasn't even busy.
There are plenty of better options in Eltham where you'll find great food matched with excellent service (eg The Eltham Tea House).

This review is for Holy Moley Gourmet Coffee, Greensborough VIC

These guys make a really tasty coffee and always serve you with a smile. I've only tried a basic latte but they have a varied menu of coffees to try. They also offer a small selection of snacks.
If you want to beat the morning rush you can SMS your order which is perfect for people like me who are often rushing to catch the train.

This review is for Aussie Farmers Direct, Richmond VIC

verified email - 05 Aug 2013

I have been a customer on and off for a number of years.
I love the convenience of receiving a weekly delivery of Australian grown fruit and veg but get frustrated by the inconsistent quality.
The customer service is helpful and quick to refund any poor quality items. The custimer service web chat feature is very useful I just wish I wasn't so familiar with it.

This review is for Scaffidi Hair Design, Lower Plenty VIC

verified email - 05 Aug 2013

Scaffidi is a bustling and busy salon. If you're looking for a luxury experience you won't find it here. What you will find is friendly hairdressers and great prices.
I recommend Kirsten. She's a great hairdresser who listens and is a skilled cutter and colourist.
Kirsten is popular so expect to book in advance.

This review is for Shiki Japanese Restaurant, Greensborough VIC

verified email - 05 Aug 2013

The food at Shiki is sensational. Favourite dishes include salmon sashimi, okonomiyaki, and seafood teppanyaki. My four year old loves the yakitori.
The waitstaff seem really inexperienced but they are so friendly that all is forgiven when they mess up orders because they are apologetic and quick to fix.
This is a family friendly restaurant.

This review is for Tai Pan, Doncaster VIC

Tai Pan is my favourite restaurant for yum cha. A great variety of flavours and it is worth saving space for their mango cheesecake.
The restaurant is huge and noisy but for me that just adds to the fun of the occasion.
